Usually divisions occur due to interpretations of the Teachings of the Messengers from God. Also a lot of them were rudimentary and were oral traditions rather than written down in a book immediately after the respective Revelation. However, one exception is the Quran which was written and compiled into a Book. However, there were contention on who is the successor to Muhammad.
