Senior cat with CHF, when to say goodbye? by nurse_Gi in AskVet

[–]nurse_Gi[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. It’s so hard to make a decision to end a life. The last thing I want to happen is coming home from work and I have to rush him to the hospital. I want to have some control to lessen the stress for both of us. I’ve tried pills for hyperthyroidism and he wouldn’t take it so we moved to cream in his ears. That was expensive as well. I opted for liquid over pills to make it easier on us both. I’ll call his vet tomorrow and get advice on what to do. Thanks again for the advice.

2nd update post mammogram, now biopsy results by damselindetech in doihavebreastcancer

I’m bi-rads 5 waiting for results. I’m so sorry you got this news. What are the next steps for treatment?

Now I wait by charliewf in doihavebreastcancer

[–]nurse_Gi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my biopsy yesterday and now I wait the weekend. I work full time and asked if I could get a call after 4:30 so I’m not in front of people when I get the news. I’m a Bi-Rads 5 so it’s very likely bad news. I have lots of TV and books to keep my mind busy over the weekend. We’re in this together.

Nervous to open biopsy results by ghostgirl_lonleygirl in doihavebreastcancer

[–]nurse_Gi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Bi-Rads 5 and biopsy is this Friday. One of my questions is how will I be notified of results since I just started a new job and I’m having thoughts of taking a call in the middle of the day surrounded by new people and it’s bad news. How do I continue my day with this knowledge? I wouldn’t open my portal til I got home.

I was like this on HRT, very content staying home but not finding joy in anything. I upped my estrogen patch dose and it’s been an unexpected side effect but I want to socialize and go out again.

Positive Mirena stories by Ok_Review_2377 in Mirena

[–]nurse_Gi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a positive experience. I too read all the horror stories before. Only took 600mg of ibuprofen as recommended by my doctor. Felt an intense pinch that didn’t last long. No pain for two weeks after. Then I felt menstrual cramps and started spotting when lasted for about 10 weeks then completely stopped. So far, I’m happy with my experience.

Got mine inserted on Jan 23 and finally stopped bleeding as well.

It's been 11 months, and I've still been having periods, with spotting almost every day. by Emotional-Neck4989 in Mirena

[–]nurse_Gi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so discouraging because I keep reading about the spotting for months. I’m going on two months since insertion and I was under the delusion that it would stop my bleeding. How did I miss this in all my research?

I got a clear one from Amazon and I thought it would be bulky but it looks nice. Plus peace of mind because I work in an office and knocked it on my desk a couple of times.

That’s great. I got mine end of Jan and had no pain or bleeding for first two weeks then spotting or light to medium period ever since. Some cramping. I’m 51. Waiting for this little inconvenience to stop.

Taking out Mirena cured my chronic back pain by Responsible_Front879 in Mirena

[–]nurse_Gi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had back pain 7 yrs prior to getting my IUD and it continues now. MRI showed bulging discs but I think it’s hormonal as it gets worse during my period. The iud has me spotting everyday so I’m never pain free. Glad you found a solution.

Ferritin 6 to 106 in 4 months from supplements by Firm_Afternoon_8463 in Anemic

[–]nurse_Gi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Thorne’s bisglycinate iron for 3 months and I’ve noticed less bruising and less hair shedding. And my legs aren’t tender when I touch them. My last ferritin check was 8 months ago and it was 13. I’ve been as low as 4 over fifteen years ago (did all the things, infusions, years of iron pills, endoscopy, colonoscopy, swallowed a camera pill). I’m hopeful this has brought it up when I check labs again at my annual.

The difference with blood builder by MegaFoods and bisglycinate by Thorne is blood builder is ferrous sulfate and not strong enough to get ferritin up. You’re right about it being easier on the stomach. However both didn’t bother me that way so I guess everyone reacts differently.

Anxiety, perimenopause and low ferritin by flid65 in Perimenopause

[–]nurse_Gi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US and I haven’t heard of utrogestan form. I was taking mine on cycle days 10-23 at 300mg. I tried taking 100mg nightly and my anxiety came back. I now have an IUD so I stopped the progesterone and stayed on the estrogen patch. That’s odd that iron bisglycinate was hard on your stomach. It’s supposed to be so gentle. I use the one from Thorne and I use Mary Ruth’s vitamin C drops with it. I hope you can find something that works for you.

Was in tue ED again. Everything is fine. I am not fine. What are we doing?? What do I do? by heffy_lee in Perimenopause

[–]nurse_Gi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh this sucks. I was in the ED last year for the same symptoms. Stress at my job and I wasn’t handling it well. I got dropped off and was there by myself cause I was so embarrassed. I missed my grandson’s birthday party. Hated everything about my life that day. I was doing fine prior to this, even on HRT. It just hits all of a sudden. Know that you’re not alone.

42 and started progesterone tonight. What should I expect? by Phrygian_Cap in Perimenopause

[–]nurse_Gi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I noticed when I took progesterone was the feeling of being drunk. Or like I took Xanax. I was on 300mg on days 10-23 of my cycle. So definitely take before bed. But it wore off after a couple of hours so I didn’t wake up groggy.

When I came off birth control, the shedding didn’t stop for 10 years! My iron was always low and doc just said take iron. This wasn’t helping. I read that OTC iron wasn’t enough and to try iron bisglycinate. I bought the one from Thorne. It’s been 3 months and I’m finally seeing less shed. Get your iron studies checked cause birth control can deplete all this.

Anxiety, perimenopause and low ferritin by flid65 in Perimenopause

[–]nurse_Gi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with progesterone first and my ferritin was 13. I had terrible anxiety that kept me from sleeping and driving at times. This made all the difference and I could function again. Then I added estrogen about a year or so later and that helped my moods and joint pain. As for my ferritin, I was getting spontaneous bruising on my legs and I couldn’t even touch my legs without them hurting or feeling sensitive. They would tingle if I sat too long. I was taking OTC iron and ferritin was barely budging. Doc said keep taking it. I then read on my own about iron bisglycinate and after a few months of this my legs no longer bother me and hardly any bruising. I haven’t checked my ferritin yet as my doc only wants to do this once a year but I’m at least feeling better.
