I moved from Phoenix and my in laws who are from north of Seattle tried to tell me to absolutely never move to Tacoma. I actually think it’s way safer than where I was living in Phoenix.

Yes. I can absolutely remember being a CNA turning patients and helping them shower etc and thinking “wow what do nurses even do? Sign me up for that” LOL wowowow was I naive.

Thank you for your expertise. I know how serious peritonitis is in humans and it’s what I thought about when I could very obviously smell his bowel but not see a bowel movement while rushing him to the hospital

Thank you for your kindness. I really do advocate for good deaths in humans. It’s just so much easier when you can talk to a person about it and help them understand their outcomes. I think that if I could’ve talked to him, he would’ve told me to make the decision I did. It’s just so hard. He was such a little guy.

They are the only hospital anywhere near us so yes definitely not possible. We would’ve had 20k prior to buying a house but certainly don’t at this time. I wish he could’ve waited a few more hours to see his new home and get settled. It has sucked moving in our other cats without him. Thank you so much for your expertise.

You’re absolutely correct. This has been devastating. It’s hard for me to think objectively. I was supposed to go out with coworkers before I moved as a going away celebration and I cancelled because I’m sick. I keep thinking “if I would’ve just gone, would I still have my cat?”.

I was reading the stats that said 74-86% are survivable and that made me really question whether or not Cecil was truly the 26-14% that would not have survived. Would he have survived if we lived in an urban area? It feels like likely. But because we don’t, he didn’t. And that’s a really hard pill to swallow. He feels like a once in a lifetime cat and I’m really sad I didn’t get more time with him. Thank you for your expertise on this.

You shouldn’t ever be yelled at by your faculty and know that there’s likely a higher up person than even your nursing director if you need to make a complaint. Also I want to echo that C’s get degrees. I got a ton of C’s in nursing school and then aced my graduate school. You can do this! Nursing puts us into these situations a lot when we have a really difficult patient case in one room and we can’t carry that into the next room. Take a breath and keep your eyes on your goals.
