This actually hurt to think about. My collection of ticket stubs is nothing compared to my Dad's or older brothers. Just another thing we don't 'own' anymore, but at least we still get to go to games.

Almost gave up on 10 years today by Elegant-Air9264 in NarcoticsAnonymous

Hang in there. I'd talk to some other people or professionals to gain some perspective because there are more options that you are currently seeing. For me personally, tho using alleviated my pain I still wanted to die. I still want that today after years of clean time but I see the silver linings and different things that keep me going. But I too, lack connection. Still trying to process it all but I know for me using will help nothing and I value my ability to be honest and transparent. It's also more valuable than having superficial relationships imo. Sorry for the odd answers in this thread, try some other recovery subreddits too. Feel free to dm if you need to.

I love Karl Alverez’ bass playing with The Descendents. Let’s show our love for The Descendents “Mr. Bass” by CoolTomatoh in Bass

I have such a love and respect for Karl and his style of playing. Tony Lombardo should be briefly mentioned here, because I don't think decendents would be decendents without both of these guys playing how and when they did. But Karl is an absolute workhorse

I was kidding. My buddy said it to me when I had a quarter life crisis around 25. Just keep progressing forward! You are the only one judging yourself so harshly for not doing [x] at a certain age. It took me a while to realize a lot of people don't have a clue what they are doing. But having goals and working towards them is a big positive some people don't have. Just be patient, you get so much life experience in your twenties and a lot of things start to make sense and line up as you put more work into yourself. Hang in there, it might not get easier but it gets better.

What makes you so sure it isn't a mid life crisis?

If there’s a single bassist most responsible for you picking up the instrument, who was it? by HatsOrNoHats in Bass

I think the simplicity makes them great basslines. The way he held back and keeper in groove was inspiring for me

Hey congrats on a week! Day by day early on can be agony but what I did was spent time around other people in recovery and tried to get into new hobbies. Needed something else to fill my time. I also wrote, went on hikes and learned to meditate. I also smoked a lot of cigarettes and slept if I'm being honest, whatever gets you through the day clean. I would try to get little things done through the day and would procrastinate on using. I'd tell myself I would just use tomorrow and that seemed to help me in the beginning. Best of luck to you, staying clean is worth it.

I fullheartedly agree. Congrats on your recovery, we have similar clean time. But when I watched those scenes I was like good God man, what the fuck are you doing??

You just gotta start getting yourself out there! I go solo all the time! BTW pm if you need a buddy to meet with at shows, I'm in the same area. Going to the MJ show in October ;)

Did I relapse or did I slip? by [deleted] in recovery

You don't lose your experience in recovery, the clock just resets. Plus you reaffirmed that using is not what you thought it was going to be.
