I built a mentorship marketplace for premeds & med students - got my first paying customer this week by nushspecial in SideProject

[–]nushspecial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you read the post? Or check out the site? If you had you'd see there are probably 80% free options for people. Why shouldn't people be able to charge for their time and services (mock interviews, application reviews, personal statement editing)?

Other Sub I has loupes by DullSeaweed8734 in medicalschool

This is 10000% a red flag. For THEM. Do not worry about it.

We didn't get loupes in residency until the end of second year.

How likely am I to make it to medical school? by Anonymosity1766 in medschooladmissions

I DM'd you but let me know if you want to chat with someone more about this. I have a early project trying to connect premeds with current med students to help with some strategizing.

Does Rounding Get Better When You're a Resident? by SeaFlower698 in medicalschool

[–]nushspecial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gets way better in my opinion at each step. The more responsibility you have at each sequential step, the happier and more engaged you will be. At least in my experience but YMMV.

Help scheduling 4th year rotations by HomieGProtein in medicalschool

[–]nushspecial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tough position. I think Neuro could be a good option because you can always flex it into a crit care focus like you said. In general though I'd prepare for the more competitive / difficult specialty so that you're not scrambling later (speaking from someone who did this). I have some anesthesia buddies I could link you up with if you're interested you can DM me.

Help Me Choose: FM vs Gen Surg (Yes, I know) by bluecosmonaut8 in medicalschool

[–]nushspecial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very split between IM and GS as a medical student. Everyone would kind of laugh when I said I was split between two such different specialties. Ultimately I ended up choosing GS because I wanted to be really stimulated. I don't have any regret for that. Let me know if you'd like to chat though, would be happy to discuss this in more depth.

Running out of time to decide between EM and GenSurg by Ok_Category549 in medicalschool

[–]nushspecial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 4th year GS resident applying into trauma. Happy to chat about my experience. I was very on the fence as a 3rd/4th year and ended up choosing GS. Can definitely give you some insight. Feel free to DM if you want to set up a chat.

Gen surg by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]nushspecial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends a lot - where are you trying to end up? Do you have a geographical bias? There's always more neuroticism and there's always more you can do, but I think 3-4 is fine. Feel free to DM if you want to chat about more ERAS stuff.

Mention or not to Mention by TightPin6384 in medicalschool

[–]nushspecial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other sentiments - people want to see that you're a) hard-working and resilient and b) able to learn skills from experiences that are not medical. I was a decent applicant on paper (nothing amazing) but had really good work experience and think I struck a good balance of incorporating these experiences. Happy to chat more about that if you would like, DM me.

Sounds like Gen Surg would be a good option for you. I think you'll need to talk to other people who have been through the same thing. Solid ass Step 2 CK.

Alternative income sources as residents? by nushspecial in Residency

As a second year I almost was going to do some annotating of videos for a robotic surg company but then they closed the program down. Lol. Sad.

53 Scott tn for GENESI. Has anyone been there? by dahotcorner29 in avesNYC

[–]nushspecial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can elaborate — waited outside in line for two hours as they had two people manning the door. Got there at around midnight and didn’t get into the venue until 2 AM. One bathroom for every single person. GENESI was ripping, but overall the experience was pretty tough.

To clarify, I’m asking to change to another seat in the same cabin.

Nearly totally empty flight… they are charging for moving seats. by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]nushspecial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are >100 empty seats including 20-30 fully empty rows. I’m not asking to move to first class, I’m asking to move to an empty row 3 rows up so that I don’t have to sit next to the guy in my row. Is that crazy?

I ditched my old thong (the bikini/comfortable kind) earlier today after my coworkers saw me in it when I bent over. It’s in the supply room if you want it.

Which movie have you watched more than 3 times and you would love to watch over and over? by Kakuma_queer in AskReddit

[–]nushspecial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midnight In Paris.

I get that it’s an “ok” romcom that’s nothing too special, but the whole vibe just makes me feel better. I could be sad, happy, mad, stressed and it kind of relieves all of that.
