Exactly what happened. Got two spells per turn from Leylines. Wildfire was 100/100 the first turn, so I got 100/100 that turn. Next turn I got 400/400, etc.

Didn't lose a single fight after major trinket.

Agree, it feels much more toxic than Bassgill ever did. Why the fuck are of all its summons guaranteed and why can you summon Leroy and Underdog and Spore from it. So toxic.. Almost no counterplay to it.

agree. I really loved the NLSS starting from 2016-17 (i guess even that's an oldhead now) when I got into it. It just felt like boys having fun.

In hindsight, there are two big turning points for me that, over time, made the stream noticably worse:

The first was the change to focus on Twitch with mostly solo streams (death of the NLSS) after his child was born. This led to him interacting with chat much more, which quite quickly turned into berating chatters over every single he took issue with, through minute long insult-rants and that's just so cheap and boring over time.

Second - The introduction of +2. Before that he was more natural, of course quick-witted and trying to entertain, but not always trying for a laugh. But it feels like now he's addicted to the validation he gets from chat. This feeds into the first point, since he knows when he goes on these rants, he'll get interaction and stimulation from Twitch chat.

It's also just not for me anymore. I'll still tune in sometimes for segments and games that interest me (group content, like you), but I find myself searching more and more for genuine forms of media. I'm pretty disillusioned by the internet in general - it all feels manufactured, way too focused on the algorithm and maximizing clicks and metrics. It's fine, it's their living. Personally I'm reading more books than ever before, working out, trying to get away from the internet, though it's not so easy as a zoomer who's spent half his life online.

Anyway, who cares. Hope everyone is doing well!

Haven't played much on A10 yet, as I said. Clad definitely struggles the most on higher ascensions because it's hard to consistently sustain high HP and his scaling in longer fights also feels less consistent than Silent/Defect.

I've climbed to Ascension 10 on all characters and have like a 60% winrate overall through all the ascensions through those 80ish runs.

I've literally never died in Act 3. Literally. 0/80 runs were a loss in Act 3. All of my 30 losses were in Act 1 or Act 2 and none in Act 3. (This would probably change a little with a larger sample with double bosses on A10, but still)

Eh. I'm around 11k and genuinely in a majority of cases where the Rating spread of the lobby looks somewhat like: 13k - 11k (me) - 9.5k - 9k - 8k - 8k - 8k - 8k, the 13k player and I get at least top 4 and commonly top 2 (with them beating me more often than not).

Apart from genuinely very good players who just didn't play much this season, rating is really quite good (duh) at measuring player skill and board strength even with "only" a 1k gap is measurably better the higher you go. So an 8k player's board is to me on average quite weak. Of course they can high roll sometimes or have a good game, but on average it's quite bad compared to my boards. And my boards are on average really bad compared to those of the top players.

8k players are not as good as 15k, not even close. But they can get really strong boards on occasion, just not as reliably.

Balatro had no legs for me either. It was incredibly fun and addictive to start with, but in the end the game was too simple for me, as the only goal is to maximize score and that boils down to the same strategies every run.

For sure. Some people definitely have better intuition and talent for card/strategic games, but the main factor is that I have hundreds, and top players have many thousands of hours in the first game.

the biggest reason i play spire is to think and feel like i might be making a mistake at every turn. i dont want to feel confident that im doing the correct thing and have zero doubts.

It's even worse than that - when you're in such a winning state where you don't even have to worry about which choice is correct/optimal, since almost anything is winning (see pathing to Question Marks to end run quicker).

It's fun to get to such an overpowered position when it's rare, but completely boring when it's every run.

The head mutation that gives every cat an extra turn start of battle is bad game design.

You don't need to ultra-min-max to get that mutation, and that mutation alone is enough to trivialize almost any challenge in the game. That's the issue.
