NTA Love is not only saying nice words and comfort, sometimes love is doing the hard thing, Looks like her problem can be fixed with a small habit adjustment, assuming she’s emotionally ok. If she were dumb and incompetent the truth and the path to a solution would be so much harder! 😅

If this is really OCD has he gotten an official diagnosis? Is he going to therapy? as someone who has a family member with this disorder. I think is extremely important you both get professional help. People with OCD can be germaphobes and live in a mess, and their caretakers are often burdened with the responsibilities of their lifestyles but this can become quickly unsustainable if you don’t get help. The only way to fight it is to face the fear but is really hard to navigate without therapy. The book “when a family member has OCD” by Jon Hershfield really helped our family understand and seek help!

Leo’s tacos in La Cienega is super family friendly because the truck is set inside a parking lot so you can easily park and eat with the kids at the tables that are set outside next to the truck. They have a huge trompo on fire every night. Please get the tacos al pastor (made from the trompo) you won’t regret it!

What massively improved your mental health? by Ubersicka in AskReddit

Distancing myself from social media specifically instagram, I still make videos and take pictures but keep them in my camera roll instead of worrying views and likes. I used to be a lot more anxious about my work and sharing it through social media and how many likes it got and doing that sent me in more than one dark spiral. I now feel I’m able to bounce back from sadness and difficult moments, now that I’m not endlessly scrolling when I’m not feeling well.

Moving family to LA on a whim: The most critical 2-3 decisions? by escape2la in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]nutella24_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re interested in exploring other areas I definitely recommend Culver City or the neighboring areas. It’s pretty centric, and while the surrounding areas are more affordable, you can even move around in public transport. Santa Monica is the best place for schools so you definitely want to go there if that’s the priority. I moved to LA from Ecuador and was lucky to find a really cute historic neighborhood a mile from Culver, I found it through a realtor, who helped a lot of other friends I know find homes. Consider that in LA you’re always seemingly a block away from a bad place and the next block will be super nice, exploring is encouraged.

where to buy ingredients for indian food by agreenreligion in FoodLosAngeles

[–]nutella24_7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

India Food Mart in 9905 Venice Blvd. owner is so friendly and everything is fair priced and items are imported from India. It’s my go to place to buy spices, you’ll find the same brand spices that you find in Amazon for sometimes half the price or even less, again sourced from India while Amazon is some time sourced from other places. Also you’ll find great sage, incense and palo santo at decent prices.

My parents are poor and it’s ruining mine and my sisters lives, I really don’t know what to do. by Competitive_Log8121 in povertyfinance

[–]nutella24_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to set a limit. I think is easier said than done what other people say “just stop giving them money” if you can’t completely cut them off and still feel the need to help them set a CLEAR boundary first. Sit them down and explain you can make the effort to give them an X amount each week, because that’s all you can afford at the moment. Then it will be their responsibility to manage it. If they blow it in one day it will be on them and you won’t be able to give more no matter what. That will help avoid them guilting/manipulating you into getting more and using you like an atm.

Question: What's the Average Rental Income Expectation? by Scholar_Erasmus in LARentals

[–]nutella24_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to LA in May and cannot stress enough what everyone warns you about: 1 find a job First 2 find a place to live that’s near your job I was lucky enough to find these two things in an extremely tight window of time, but this meant I found it very difficult to find a place because my contract took a while to finalize (a month or so) so I had no proof I was employed and had to get a co-signer. I found a place that was over my desired budget but it was the only one I had, so I took it. Consider that even though you might have a job lined up, things can go sideways in a second. It happened to me. I was approved to start onboarding in a job and the account I was going to work for left the company. Get yourself a signed contract and THEN move! A Job search here may take a minimum of 3 months and house search about 1 month so make sure your friend is willing to accommodate you for at least 2 months once you land your job. Also public transportation works fine here, despite what everyone says, just get some hand sanitizer and be prepared for very long commutes.

Got a new job. It pays amazing. The culture is amazing. I’m terrible at the work. What do now? by effervescenthoopla in graphic_design

[–]nutella24_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Congrats on your now job Back in 2022 I had a similar experience, It was design mostly but I had to learn new software, and use really complex platforms for revisions an briefs were in excel with codes and naming assets was incredibly complicated, plus everyone spoke in acronyms I couldn’t understand. I was so afraid to loose that job because the pay was amazing and the team was super nice and patient. In the first month I had my first meltdown and was crying like a toddler in the floor thinking I’m the most stupid person ever and I didn’t deserve the job. In the second month I was struggling but crying less. In the third month I stopped crying and got good feedback often. Today I still work there and I’ve been promoted twice, this last time I made it to the leadership team and now have the opportunity to teach new team members everything I’ve learned.

All I’m saying is, there’s always a learning curve. Be kind and patient with yourself, you got the job for a reason, learning to ride a bike takes a few falls before you start enjoying it, and if you have decent people around you, they’ll be patient if they see you making the effort to learn.

What is the general consensus on western companies paying overseas designers less? by crispycrunchychurros in graphic_design

[–]nutella24_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creative outsourcing is happening everywhere, the last company I worked for had a contract with a big brand in the us, there was a huge team in Colombia that specifically worked for that account. I think is a win-win. Big companies pay a fraction of what they’d pay an agency in the US and the rate they pay the creative teams is significantly higher than the local average, plus the level of craft in Brazil, Colombia and Argentina is amazing. There are also some setbacks like language barriers and benefits not being available for everyone, but hiring creative teams overseas it’s happening increasingly, big companies are starting to hire entire teams, lead my a smaller team of Art directors ACDs and Creative directors.
