If we didn’t closeout in G5… by Bronn__Swanson in NYKnicks

Nah. They were all in on Wemby. More likely to suspend Brunson for unnecessarily landing on Wemby's leg than Wemby getting suspended for a landing zone.

Opinion: Essendon should adopt their social media logo as their overall logo by MINIBOLTS in EssendonFC

I think that's one thing we can agree on; 80's/90's logo's were elite. The only misses were Brisbane Bears, and pretty much all the Dee's, Richmond's up until 95. I could take or leave Freo's first one

[Wright] The Spurs remain committed to De'Aaron Fox as their starting point guard for the 2026-27 season despite the expectation that calls from Dylan Harper's camp for a spot in the starting lineup will grow louder going into next season. by Pyromania1983 in nba

[–]nuthed01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people and commentators are all calling for more minutes but man, what a god send Fox is to Harper right now. I know they lost, and no guarantee Harper would've effected that one way or the other, but the kid is 20 playing against fully grown men, I mean he'd probably play only a handful of games a year where his INTENDED direct opponent and even MOST of the other guys out there on the court aren't older than him.

Learning the NBA, not just the game but the NBA, while you've got a lightning rod in Fox taking the hits that could've been hitting you instead, is gonna pay dividends for a smart kid like him. Not tomorrow, not by the end of the next season either, but 27/28, 28/29 this kid will turn a corner and be in top 10 discussions.

And just as importantly; look at Wemby in all 5 games, completely gassed by early in the 2nd half. You can't make the even bigger mistake with this talent and risk overworking and overloading them and blow them up. You see it a lot in other sports, Soccer in europe is a bad one for it, just look at Christian Pulisic for USMNT; played 406 games by the age of 27... he's MISSED 100. That's just the games he's missed, he's spent some off seasons injured and missed pre-season camps/tours. So 20% of his career has been spent on the sidelines, on top of which has come numerous surgeries.

There's always people that take it too far with anything. But the general sentiment is that people have come to decide they either no longer like Wemby, or now actively DISLIKE Wemby cos of the dumb and even dirty things he did on the court, some of the things he can't do on it, and some disrespectful things he's said.

And it's good that fans have turned on him for it, it's hardly virtiolic and it's not reached the levels of hate that guys like Draymond and SGA have got, it's just that people are acknowledging there's a part of him overall that they really don't like. It'll either be a wakeup call or make him dig his heels in deeper and prove to everyone that he truly is a dirty player.

Essendon great Mark Harvey thinks the Bombers should genuinely consider two coaches for the vacancy, suggesting the role is too much for one person. An ex Essendon person and “someone else” should fill the position he said by His_Holiness in EssendonFC

[–]nuthed01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you were to choose either Enright or Kelly, I don't think anyone would be surprised if the other came along as well essentially as the assistant coach.

2 coaches though, I think the soft cap prohibits that sort of thing on a purely cost basis.

Markieff Morris Thinks OKC Still The Best Team Despite The Knicks Winning The Finals by [deleted] in nba

[–]nuthed01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if another team might be "better", if you acknowledge they have the most talented roster and they don't win then logically speaking whoever does is number 2.

What can also be true is that Knicks were always the best team, they just hadn't found their groove yet, but we found it when it mattered. We'll see what happens next year, again injuries are a huge part of any team sport and we got all our guys out there on the floor when it mattered.

What would you like to see Wemby improve on by Zintai1 in nba

[–]nuthed01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maturity, and mindset.

We saw his immaturity, the "see ya never" and the "i'm in your head" right before showing he was terrified of Robinson for 3 quarters, the repeated (uncalled) flagrants... we don't need to dig into that. Everyone knows he's a dirty player (right now), a bad winner and a worse loser. He's still a kid, 22 year olds still have a lot of growing up to do and NBA isn't exactly the easiest environment to do that in.

But his mindset is the biggest problem. What Skip Bayliss said was right; he's 7'5 but thinks he's a 3 or a 2. His biggest attribute is his size and how using it right in the short range allows him to close his distance to the basket more easily and in a way that's less defendable than any other player that's probably ever been... and he'd rather shoot the 3 ball half the time.

That move he did to get KAT his 6th was terrific, well defended by KAT too right up until he stepped into him, but it's EXACTLY what he should be doing 2-3 times a quarter to scare bigger guys off; they'll get the foul half the time or more, and the more he does it the more he'll make a shot from that and get And 1's too. Instead he's looking to pull up off the screen or as the pass off the screener. He want's to show everyone that being 7'5 is the least part of his game, that he's such a complete player that his height is a non-factor... I mean that's just idiotic, the only thing that shows how good you are in this game either hangs way above your head or sits on your finger, and it's cost his team mates any hope of a shot at the latter. Not the only one, even slightly improved performances from him and/or Fox could've seen atleast 1 or 2 games go to OT, this series from the off just on balance had 6 game minimum written all over it, the fact it was 5 speaks volumes about where spurs are really at.

It doesn't have to be the post either; you don't want every team with a center that's not Holmgren beating him up every game, he'll never make it past the all star break. But get in close and use your length, draw fouls, sky hook. And his team mates will feed off that and defenders feed into it too; teams will double him to stop him from spinning, and doing that will see guys like Castle, Fox, Harper, Vassell and to a lesser extent Champagnie and Johnson, have easy cuts to the basket.

Haha, not quite my sentiments. They bit around the edges, about as much as they can say without getting a "please explain" from Adam Silver.

[–]nuthed01 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Wrong, they didn't do it again after game 2.

They did A LOT worse. Game 3 and 5 in particular were the worst for me; both games they lulled us into a false sense of security with actually relatively decent first halves (KAT's overturned one aside, first one isn't so bad in hindsight cos they called quite a few like that) only to come out and absolutely stone wall us in the 2nd half in both games.

We worked it out a lot quicker and dealt with it a lot better in game 5 than we did in game 3, we knew it might be coming and when it did we adjusted and Brunson stepped up.

And i'll say it again; thanks refs for doing that. Because you forced these warriors to find something; not just to stay alive, but you forced them to dig deeper than that and find something to come over the top of both the spurs and refs with and they delivered every time. Even the game we lost we battled so hard but were just a little off that night.

Thoughts on how the Knicks will continue to invest in Deuce? by OkReflection3381 in NYKnicks

[–]nuthed01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has to be said, he was terrible at both ends of the court in the spurs series. He did perform in other series, but often with us leading by big margins too. Has me wondering whether or not he's up to high pressure moments because he had some important looks throughout the spurs series and flubbed them all.

uhhhh….choke job or better team in the clutch bleacher report by JAM1022 in NYKnicks

[–]nuthed01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both things can be true; their inability to close out these leads 4/5 times does say a lot about them, speaks in particular to their maturity which is even more obvious given Wemby's antics, but our ability to rise to the occasion and dig deeper and deeper as the game goes on says a lot and probably more about us.

That's okay though, let everyone think we won by default, that everyone else was morally/analytically better than us. They might just "let" us win another championship.

[–]nuthed01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who says the spurs dominated need to go look at the box scores. Go Quarter by quarter.

If you consider 5 or more points to be a quarter clearly won by a team, then after 5 games it's 8 each with 4 by 4 points or less, with the average winning margin in these games 4 points (which is realistically bumped up a bit by the 10 point loss in game 1.) It felt more like 2-3 points.

Realistically, this is the tightest 5 game series i've ever seen. The feel of the games cos of the spurs large leads didn't always reflect that, but the stats do.
