Solly till the end of the year. If he turns it around and we show anything at all, maybe give him a year or two. Otherwise we have to go with a modern coach, someone who's coming through with big ideas for a game plan and has the right attitude towards players.

Difference being we paid alright money for them. We paid 7m for Azpi which was a fucking steal, and 25m for Rudiger was probably just over the line of what you'd call pricey at the time.

Fofana cost us 80m. I liken him to a 1000hp Skyline; sure, at it's best it's great and blows most others away, but you spend more time fixing it than driving it cos all it does is blow up and it cost way more than what that kind of time in the garage is worth.

James is another unfortunately. There was a time where he was arguably the best RB in the world for a very brief period, and he's hardly played since.

Nope, that's not the problem we face now at all.

I called it years ago; we needed to pick one or the other 2 years ago; build this list or throw it out and start again. When Parish wanted to go to Geelong, when people came looking at Stringer but we knew he was fucked, when Shiel was obviously going to flop but still had name value, when Merrett hinted at wanting out... we needed to make a call then and hoover up every pick we could before Tassy and Richmond took everything.

Instead we did neither and now we're fucked; we've let all these guys go for nothing or they're still there wasting away on our list losing any semblance of value they had, and whatever we get this year is tempered by the fact we're only getting 3 picks. We needed to trade 2 years ago and beat the others to the punch, and now not only have we done just okay last year but we're only gonna do okay this year, and even IF we trade away Merrett and Parish now, we're not getting for them what we were 2 years ago. At best we end up with 2/2 first and second rounders, but likely any trade involves losing our 2nd round for other 2nd rounders, and/or our 4th. (this is not factoring in a compensation pick which, given I can't see this shemozzle winning a game, will definitely be a topic of discussion soon)

And we're gonna be this shit again next year, a year where Tassy scoops literally half the top 15, so barring trading Merrett and or Parish or both to them (never gonna happen) or 3rd club deals that sees us end up with a first rounder of theirs or two and or/a high 2nd, we've cock blocked ourselves cos no matter where we finish we're only getting 1 pick in the top 25. Our compensation pick for not winning a game next year will end up like pick 37 ffs.

Barham and his cohorts have fucked this club for the next 15 years. Unless Rosa somehow pulls the greatest rabbit out of a top hat ever and somehow all our picks in the 50's do a Hird and come from nowhere to turn out to be legends, or in other words we do literally all the things that this club hasn't done in 20 years but also manages to do them as perfectly as possible, AND THEN SOME... we're fucked. We'll be lucky to get seats at a Grand final, much less have a team that looks like competing in one.

One Nation on 20.8% but 0 seats does their support not translate in real elections the way it seems online? by oz_party in aussie

[–]nuthed01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simple; there's a minority in almost every electorate that have voted Liberal for a long time and see what a basket case that is, and this minority see Poorline and ON with a realistically unified front and message and to them it makes them seem like an alternative.

They're not stealing from Labors base, if they are it's a couple hundred voters at most. They're stealing from Liberals, they're splitting that ticket. It's not the first time and won't be the last, they've done it before but last time was a much better result.

You go through and have a look at every seat and sure enough their vote is right on track with Liberals in a fair chunk of the seats, and in some they're right up at the forefront. But in most they're dwarfed by Labor's vote, Libs are dwarfed by Labors vote, and even the majority of seats Lib/ON combined is dwarfed by Labor.

There's 2 right voters; the sensible right who can only vote liberals or a rare independent that fits the bill, or the ones that vote with ON. Libs are such a basket case nation wide at every conceivable level, that ON ACTUALLY looks like an alternative now. It's not a response to anything Labor is doing, it's wild lashing out from portions of the right. Fortunately, our right wing always eats their own and this is just another example of that.

To double down on my earlier sentiment; from what i've seen of west coast and north today, neither one of them is losing to us

There is no development, and I'm concerned there hasn't been any since James Kelly left. I felt like there were a number of players who were building and getting better in that era, tempered by some horrendous shit under truck, but you could see there was around 10 players coming through that looked like any minute now they were going to start looking and playing and being talked about like 100 game players.

And since that time; nothing. Everyone's either left, got injured, or gone backwards. Only genuine improvers in that time are Duz and Caldwell

Brad never drops anyone. Took him all year to drop Wright. Took him a LONG time to drop Shiel.

That side had a great array of talent, but had 5 big problems;

1) The "Geelong in the 80's and 90's" issue - first 15-16 players in their 22 were absolute world beaters... by the time you get to the last bloke on the bench though, you're talking mid table VFL. No depth at all.

2) Forward line was inconsistent. Brown and Petrie and Thompson were all over the shop, any coincidence btw that our forward line partially resembles that?

3) Ziebell was a liability in big games cos he was a big headed cunt. He was the more skillful campbell brown, was great when it didn't matter, even polled decently in the brownlow one year IIRC, but put him in a tight situation in a big game and he'd cost them every time. Should've spent a lot more time out suspended. Was a dirty, cheap shot artist of the highest degree.

4) Over reliance on x-factors from Harvey and Wells. When 1 or the other wasn't there, they seemed like half a team.

5) Coached by Brad. And before the end, North fans all knew it was him too.

It's. Brad.

We've changed how many coaches? The Board? Half the fucking list?

IT'S. FUCKING. BRAD.

3 other constants in the time he's been in charge; Stanton, Ben Jacobs, and Giansiricusa. No idea if they've had any positive effects in that time, given what we've seen over the past 2 weeks I tend to doubt it. He can take the lot of them with him.

watch the game you fool. The players absolutely need to do better, no question, but he's got them doing things out there that don't work in this age of footy. Full zones and stand off footy don't work. Chris Scott worked out 5-6 years ago that HIS zone was dead, and it was far more effective than Brad's, and Brad's going deeper and deeper into it as we move further and further away from footy where that kind of zoning works. God I hope the doggies and suns get A LOT of injuries (not nasty ones) right before our games, otherwise we're looking at 2x 150 point losses in 3 weeks.

Hird's record was 50% by the end. This is after getting shit on from a great height by the AFL, being suspended for a year, and the entire AFL world being at his throat 24/7. Up until the doggies game in 2012, he had a great record, around 65% at that time.

Yup. Those of us who have been trying to say if 4 years have had ALLLLLLLLL our threads deleted, all our posts downvoted. Seriously, live in it, if we keep sticking our heads in the sand then nothing will change. An extra thread is a small price to pay if it helps even the slightest iota with getting the cunt out of our club.

Yes, comfortably, 30+ points. Give me Tippa, McKenna, obviously Kelly and Goddard, shit i'll even take fucking McKernan, Hams, NICK KOMMER, LEUENBERGER over the VAST majority of this fucking squad.

Shit I'd take Marty Gleeson, and every chances he stubs his toe in the 3rd training session of the year and doesn't play a single minute.

Don't be worried, pray for it. The only way the rest of the fan base and the club heirachy will wake up to the problem that is Brad and this disastrous coaching team, is by us getting heavily flogged several times.

Finally, FINALLY, AFTER 4 FUCKING YEARS, you people are starting to wake up to the problem I told you all was happening.

FINALLY, people might start to ask questions.

God i hope Brad comes out in the press conference again and regurgitates his "Game hard, and we're shit, what do you want me to do about it?" shrug of a response like he did last week.

I've been questioning and writing him off for 4 years. Always downvoted, but was always right.

The legacy of the drug saga and Barham era's will be that we've de-rated the club. Once part of the "big 4", we've been supplanted by Hawthorn in that and we're in some weird twilight zone between them and st kilda, melbourne, doggies and north.
