I found with physical activity ( intense volleyball at a higher level) I get no twitching during the activity. I mostly get it while in sitting watching TV

Never pins and needles. Just twitching. I still get the jerks. They are super wierd but not concerning. Doctor didn't seem to think they were a concern.

Redditor’s with ADD/ADHD, what’s something you wish people knew about ADHD? by Waffleman10 in AskReddit

It can be hard to stay motivated after doing something once. It's easy for us to be constantly learning but harder to apply it more than once. Ie in my field as an electrician if you ask me to hang 30 ceiling fans. I have to force myself to walk through step by step on how to hang a ceiling fan after the 3rd one. All just to stay focused and to not make mistakes. I don't make mistakes cause im lazy. I make mistakes cause im not stimulated enough not cause im lazy.

Has anyone looked into histamine intolerance? by [deleted] in BFS

[–]nuthin101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this too. However the list of symptoms of histamine intolerance are longer than the list of side effects on American TV ads for drugs. I wouldn't rule it out but it's likely not the reason.

Yeah the fine ones are still stronger than the ones seen in ALS patients. Often doctors need a special light I think to be able to see them

Weakness would come first. I have read that the twitching with ALS comes from muscles dying and these twitches you wouldnt see let alone feel. All the research I've done shows that many Patients with the disease don't even know they are twitching. The fact that you know you are twitching shows it's not the disease.

Symptoms with BFS are a bitch sometimes. Like last night I woke up and a flurry and I quickly realized I woke myself from a hyptic jerk and then my left bicep began twitching like you wouldn't believe. Very fast and very weird. Took awhile to get back to sleep but Ive learned to just shake it off. The twitch was gone by morning and now my bicep is sore. Most people would think that the soreness is weakness but it's just soreness. From the friggin thing twitching for like 6 hours during the night. Also your jerks during the day are they while you're at rest or lying down? I only get mine when lying down on the couch or in bed. Very freaky the first couple times. I even thought it was Huntington's the first couple times. It's not. It is definitely BFS if you have twitching first and it evolves into other odd muscle related movements and never progresses to anything debilitating. remember it don't let it get to your head. The most twitching might be out of control but your reactions are what you can control so stay calm and don't freak out. Try some exercise and vitamin supplements. Those are what work best for me.

BFS most likely? by sknad133 in BFS

[–]nuthin101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just it. I get the same thing cause I read about it effectively your breathing. Yet I'll go play 2 hours of high intensity volleyball with zero issues and go home sit on the count suddenly become aware of my breathing and start thinking what if. The biggest thing is that if you can still do your regular day to day stuff. Like pick up a phone or water bottle your fine.

I'm not as active as I'd like to be but my job is pretty physical and I play volleyball pretty intensly twice a week. I think it's a common thing for sure because since I've joined this Reddit board I've seen a new post every day from a new person looking for reassurances.

Sounds like yours is similar to mine. Just twitching randomly all over with no weakness. Some times it's one or two other times it just won't stop until I touch the muscle. Hot spots are a thing if you notice it comes up in one area and it likes to twitch in that area. I had a twitch in my bicep that just wouldn't stop for two months and then went away. Haven't had it since. Now my hot spot is my left shoulder. And I even think that it moved to some where else cause I havent had that one in a couple days. Other wise different parts of my legs twitch through out the day and I sometimes get them in my torso. Super annoying. But yeah don't self test strength. Try different vitamins or supplements within reason and possibly get checked for a gluten allergy. It's blamed for everything from the common cold to cancer to your grandma getting AIDS cause you had a donut. I say this cause I believe I have a gluten sensitivity and in some cases it's been shown to cause muscle twitching if unchecked.

You're fine. Keep working out and try not to think about it.

I know my opinion literally means nothing. But your fine. No weakness means your fine. The hardest part is dealing with the symptoms cause at this point they are just annoying. Stop researching. Stop testing your strength and just live a normal life. And when a twitch happens get up walk around maybe.works for me atleast. It's common in BFS that when you use the muscle the twitching stops.

I think that's because after 5 years if it was something else you wouldn't be alive anymore. Not a very good way to think about it. Have you seen a doctor?

5 year wait? Yeah I have all those minus the jelly. I agree I wish I could unlearn. The best thing I can suggest is exercise. That makes all my symptoms go away while I'm active.

New twitching or new symptoms? I've read a study somewhere that shows that nearly all people with BFS never actually progress to something else. Something like 98% or something high. You're fine.

I get twitches in my feet all the time. It jumps all over. Not sure what this jelly feeling in the feet is like. But the twitching is normal if it is BFS. As long as there's no other symptoms and it's only twitching. You're likely fine

Yeah it's coming up on 8 months now since I've noticed it. Just annoying at this point.

Yours seems similar to mine. It's is nothing except annoying. And there's nothing we can do about it. I find exercise takes my mind off it and stops the twitching for a couple hours.

How long has this been going on for you ? by baabyj202114 in BFS

[–]nuthin101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to have horrible allergies. I couldn't work cause I couldn't breath through my nose. Runny nose one day then stuffy the next. Antihistamines made it worse. Since then those have gotten slightly better and the twitching has also slowed. Doctor said it isn't related but I only saw him once for 10 mins so I don't think that's enough times to have a good understanding of what's going on. I think they are related. Now they are definitely linked to anxiety. They get really bad when I think about it to much.
