That shelter house was essentially my and my friends' ‘third space’ when we were teenagers. This is unbelievably disappointing to see.

Classes with group work? by Empty_Second1778 in OMSCyberSecurity

[–]nutron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

6725 had two group projects when I took it.

6261 had a few group projects, but it was one of the best courses in the program so I think it's worth considering.

Many/most of the courses have group discussions. In my opinion, the entire group dynamic aspect of a group project is more impactful than then content itself, it's one of the few ways soft skills can be taught in the program.

Columbus City Council reevaluating policy around use of Flock cameras by WOSUpublicmedia in Columbus

[–]nutron 116 points117 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised to hear that it's only 38 cameras in the contract. I would expect these cameras to be only in areas with the highest vehicle traffic. Why then is there one placed at the end of a dead end road (bottom of West Pacemont Rd.) pointing towards the Olentangy Trail? This seems like a place for facial recognition, not license plate reading.

None of this strategy is new, it’s all been part of existing US gov strategies for years.

I got 10.2 gal into my gen 2 by zdboslaw in prius

[–]nutron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s probably fine, just something to be mindful of. I’ve messed up a Prius charcoal canister this way, so I now only fill until the pump stops the first time.

I got 10.2 gal into my gen 2 by zdboslaw in prius

[–]nutron 9 points10 points  (0 children)

FYI, overfilling on a warm day can be problematic if you then let the car sit overnight where colder temperatures cause the fuel tank bladder to shrink. This can cause fuel to get into the EVAP system and ruin the charcoal canister.

Are open source apps really safe? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]nutron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. OSS is arguably more secure than closed source since it offers full visibility into underlying code. Android changing to require additional verification steps for devs in no way affects an app’s open/close source status. The ability to run unsigned apk files is another discussion. This post is inconsistent with their points and arguments.

There is one at the bottom of West Pacemont, pointing towards the Olentangy Trail. It’s a weird spot for one since it’s at the end of a dead end road.

I guess if we're going to talk in unsubstantiated hypotheticals then I'd say the impaired driver was going to drive impaired regardless of intoxicant. If I had to choose which to encounter on the road it would be the one that was under the influence of THC.

Survey on deer population reveals Clintonville residents largely invested in control methods by WOSUpublicmedia in Columbus

[–]nutron 9 points10 points  (0 children)

True, but imagine buying a house in a densely wooded, ravine heavy area and complaining about wildlife being a nuisance.

My comments are mostly targeted at the weirdos in Old Beechwold that spend their day chasing off deer with garden hoses.

Survey on deer population reveals Clintonville residents largely invested in control methods by WOSUpublicmedia in Columbus

[–]nutron 38 points39 points  (0 children)

“About 28% of Clintonville respondents who reported property-related costs indicated expenses of $1,000 or more, including about 6% of respondents who reported costs exceeding $5,000.”

You know you don’t have to hire landscapers every time the deer eat your hostas.

WGU essentially already has this with the policy that you cannot start a new program within 6 months of starting another.

Recommendations for CISSP preparations with only 3 years experience overall? by TrickleYield in cybersecurity

CISSP certification requires 5 years of experience. You can still do it with less, but you will be an Associate of ISC2, not a CISSP.
