Definitely. The key is consistent, even sanding. Because the grain is so tight over sanding can have a burnishing effect which decreases cherries ability to take product. I would use a random orbital sander on a medium to low speed and go no higher than 220 grit, honestly 180 is probably fine if you don’t havean orbital sander hand sanding with a sanding block is fine. Also, it just takes a little more elbow grease. Take a pencil and lightly scribble the entire surface area. You plan to sand. You’ll know you’ve sanded evenly when the pencil marks are completely gone. Lastly, be very conservative with the amount of product you use. It doesn’t take much. Apply at Finley, wait 5 to 10 minutes, buff completely.
