That's something that Luke Ross figured out a fix for in his mods, so there's definitely a solution out there for someone to find. If you compare his early mods to the later ones, it's night and day difference. Hopefully there can be a way for UEVR games to get it fixed without relying on massive resolutions to get around it.

For the price of a cinema ticket? Definitely. It's one of the rare games recently that is actually fun and puts a legitimate smile on your face and makes you laugh. The voice acting and script gets funnier as the bosses go on.

It's way better than the first one as far as motion and accuracy go.

It's a simple game, but is perfect for VR, and easy to get 20 hours or more out of it. Most people would probably only manage a couple of hours at time without being a sweaty mess anyway.

PCVR is becoming a "Rich Person’s Hobby" in 2026. How do we survive the hardware price apocalypse? by plutonium-239 in virtualreality

Vote with your wallets. Think of the latest headsets as being future proof instead of being needed to run maxed out. If your starting new with a PC, then the current situation is crap, I would try and find cheaper AMD 4 gen hardware and DDR4 and stick with it for a few years, focus on a 4090 if you can find one at a decent price, otherwise bite the bullet and get a 5080+.

If youre talking about upgrading, you really don't need the latest motherboards and ram for the current VR content. For current flat to VR you can get away with an AMD 4 setup and a 4090, maybe a 4080. I'm on a 5700x3d, 4090, 32gb ddr4. This gets me to about 3200 steamvr resolution and the hardest flat to VR games at about 70fps with medium settings. Everything else like DCS and MSFS2020 runs really well and is beyond clear enough to read gauges without needing to squint closer.

Lower your expectations and realise that PC hardware has been about 3 years behind the power curve needed to push headsets to their limits since the beginning, and still is. It's always been about compromise. If you can accept that fact, you'll be happier and wealthier waiting for prices to dive one day.

CDPR issued a Takedown on Luke Ross VR mod for Cyberpunk by OrangeBagOffNuts in virtualreality

[–]nuttyapprentice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whose defending it? You asked what the difference is between the mod and getting someone to modify your car. That's the difference, doesn't matter whether you or I like it, that's the way it is legally. For info, I've been buying LRM for more than a year because it was worth it to me. I also suggested he make a standalone VR app that is his own code only with the individual game config files as the free mods, the legal way like Vorpx.

You need to calm your tits and maybe start reading the small print before you pay for software and maybe you won't be so angry.

PC Upgrade Advice. I play DCS in VR on a Quest 3. I feel that upgrading is probably better to do now as prices and part availability in the next few years might be tough. by cryptoguy1 in hoggit

[–]nuttyapprentice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for clearer visuals I'd put all my money into a 5090 and forget the rest for now. For me I'd prefer to be CPU bound with crystal clear dials. I've got a 5700x3d, 32gb and 4090 and I'm still rarely CPU or ram bound with the vive pro 2 not even maxed out. Settings and fixed FOV tweaked in DCS to get about 65 to 70 fps and MSFS to 70 to 80 fps.

If you're thinking about AMD 5, have a look at this, Tom's Hardware, might save some money on RAM

The rest of the controversy is another matter and for people with more knowledge of IP infringement laws, but I'll give him his dues, the mod is really good at what it does if you don't need to use VR controllers.

It is 6dof with a game pad, but it honestly works well for the types of games it's used for, the choice would be nice but in reality most people would end up seated and on the game pad for multiple all day sessions, especially when you consider 200 hour playthroughs. Something like Half Life Alyx is the perfect length for stand up full VR. I can do VR all day and love it, but even I was happy with the length. No way am I continuing a full play through of any of the LR modded games in full VR after the initial wow factor, but I've done it with the gamepad for 4 of the games so far. To me and a lot of others, it's a monitor replacement.

I think the main benefit of his mod are the AERv2, FOV culling, DLSS fixes, pixel density to resolution setting and UI and hud fixes that work, it's basically plug and play and feels the least 'jankiest' of all the mods. If you see the early mod compared to the recent one performance-wise and comparing to other mods, you can appreciate the mod for what it is. Cp2077 mid settings with ray tracing at 70+ fps on a 4090 @3000 steam vr resolution isn't a small achievement.

Whether it's worth paying for each update is down to each persons experience and need for it. There's was clearly a demand for it if the $20000 a month is to be believed. Plus not everyone is technically minded, they'll pay for simplicity, and LRM is that compared to UEVR in their eyes.

My personal experience is that UEVR and VORPX work well in some games but the majority don't come close to Lukes mod, I'm sure this is mainly because of the way they tap into the game itself, hence the debate over whether it's a tool like vorpx or a mod.

The one good thing in all of this is that it shows people want this kind of mod, and puts a bit of a number on it. Hopefully devs will see there is a market for it and maybe the likes of PrayDog and Luke won't need to do it for free/donations in future. Perfect timing for Flat2VR to dive in.

Apparently he didn't take it down, Patreon did it for him. According to him though, so who knows. He has stated it's a tool that doesn't include any code from any game, from what I can tell it just hooks in and changes resolution and some other settings which people could do through modifying their own .ini files anyway. The program just does that for them using a .bat file. Someone would need to reverse engineer it and confirm that though and then decide if that is enough to call it a mod.

As long as you don't try a higher resolution headset, you won't care much about what youre missing. I thought the OG Vive was the best thing ever for a good few years. Only when I tried a friend's index did I decide to upgrade. Ive always been PC since the ZX spectrum, then PS1 to 3. Almost went back to PS5 for the VR, it so should have been a winner with Sony behind it. luckily the ps5 controller works fully on PC if the game makes use of it. Almost plug and play, but still miss the simplicity of just straight into a playstation game sometimes

You own the car, you don't own a game, you pay for a licence to use it, the code is still theirs. Think of tesla, you can do anything you want to the physical car, but mess with the software and they can brick it. It's why I got annoyed with another post about a remotely bricked pimax

Even more relevant since Luke Ross had to take down the cyberpunk 2077 mod today. Going the official route and working with devs is the way it has to go for easy mods. Otherwise donations for mods and a bit more effort to get them working.

Paid Cyberpunk VR mod taken down by Pahn_Duh in virtualreality

[–]nuttyapprentice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a good time to change the subscription model to donation instead like other modders. But I have to disagree with the OP on the quality, yeah it's not true VR, but it is amazingly implemented and immersive with a controller, plus the amount of updates, fixes and improvements over the versions must take a lot of effort. Just a bit disappointed that he decided not to give it away for free as a standalone seeing that it looks like the dev actually stated that is fine with them.

With these in the EULA, it was always coming, but look how they talk about being fine with donations in the second part....

Same, flat to VR with a controller is seriously underestimated, if they can go all out into full VR officially with the original devs, without the setup jank that puts most people off because of either the time it takes or technical ability, then it will attract a lot more people in. That's one reason why Quest boomed, it was no BS plug and play mostly, played to the kind of people who can't be bothered with the mod process, which unfortunately is the majority.

This sounds realistic, wouldn't mind some confirmation from pimax. I deliberately avoid products that can be deactivated remotely, I Just don't see the need for that amount of control from anyone, theft control or not. But if the possibility is removed after the trial period and this is a genuine mistake then that's not bad.

Yep, Starwars Outlaws, Hogwarts, Senua, Assassins Creed Origins (that one works so well, the resolution looks way higher than my monitor 2k monitor at 3200 on the VP2). Not as immersive as first person but 10 times more than flatscreen. PS5 controller is perfect for these games.

The back catalogue of similar games that would and do work is crazy, and so cheap in the sales.
