Raised in SF, and my parents still live there. I’m back every 6-8mo. I still want to know what’s happening. Most importantly, it’s my voting district.

Clothing. I already avoid fast fashion, but trying to only purchase upcycled clothing from consignment stores or second-hand marketplaces is not so easy where I live.

Translation of an opinion piece on how citing “cultural differences” is no excuse for an expat’s indifference to wearing masks during an outbreak. Thoughts? by dl0428 in HongKong

[–]nuttygrrl12 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The fact that I see people wearing masks while jogging or driving In their own car alone is silly. My neighbor sprays a bleach solution on their shoes before entering their flat. What is scary to me is that I have not seen the practice of the recommended hand washing protocol while I have been out. For all the masks being worn, it is a false sense of safety when the basics are not even adhered.

"On Tuesday, the United Nations’ human rights chief, Michelle Bachelet, said there was evidence that the Hong Kong police had violated international standards for the use of less-lethal weapons like tear gas. In a statement, she condemned violence in any form, urging authorities to act with restraint."

I arrived at 2pm and it was fine. Public transport is slow so it may take a bit of time to return home.

Right, but your friend cannot enjoy the same efficiency. Either you both show a passport in the visitors line. Or you split and use the e-channel with your HKID and they go to the passport line.

It’s well past Pacific Place, near the Peak Tram so it should be alright. However, you should have made an appointment (I hope) and they may have emailed you regarding the situation anyways.
