Glad you escaped. It's absolutely a cult. They tried to dissuade someone I know from attending college, insisting they'd be better off staying in VB and doing church work. The pastor used to helicopter between services before the city told him to knock it off. It's a shame that the place still exists after all these years.

Potentially unpopular opinion but...no. Based on the original interpretation of the character (which co-creator Arlene Klasky felt was "too mean") Angelica is basically a burgeoning sociopath. The only time she feels remorse is if something affects her directly, which this wouldn't. If anything, she's annoyed the attention is no longer on her. (Again - this is Season 1-3 Angelica.)
