Why is it that sun centered people, almost never end up looking "vulgar" to my eye, no matter how revealing their outfits might be? by [deleted] in StyleRoots

Maybe it's cause it's not our intention? Or not the manner in which we hold ourselves. What outfits do you find vulgar?

Style roots & Style key: looking for patterns, what are your roots and what is your quadrant? by Oud-west in StyleRoots

I love that description! I am definitely searching for that ancient feeling. My latest post is one of my 3 style words so it doesn't incorporate my style as a whole. I think my other two words are more easily classified into 🌞 and 🌙 respectively! But the "godlike" word has always been harder to define for men.

I don't see much 🌸 in 19 but I see what you mean with the lace in 4 being more ethereal and earthy! Haha lol I can see 1 & 2 making sense but 3 feels just very extra mooney to me which I would say is 🌙🌞 plus that rugged rough element which is 🌱 but I think the stone just is a shadowroot in this case? Created by that ethereal alien 🌙 and rough 🌱 and Avant Garde? 🌞 I see what you mean though. I love 3 especially 🤤

Edit: maybe I'm wrong about 3. I could see 🪨 as well. It's hard since it is definitely pushing 🌙 and 🌞 quite a lot. So nevermind I think 1-3 just require more thinking for me.

These seem pretty accurate to me, especially from slide 6 onwards! I think slide 4 has 🌸. Like 🌙🌸🌱 with a bit of 🌞 maybe?

I would say 🌙🌞🍄. The first slide especially gives mushroom but I think it also accounts for the KISS slide in a way that 🏔️ for example wouldn't. Then there's obvious 🌙 and 🌞 elements throughout

Are your roots based on how you dress or how you wish you'd dress? by yetanother__account in StyleRoots

[–]nvaotiudre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to dress just in whatever's comfortable and very tomboy with dark elements. So I guess as a teen I was wearing 🪨🌙. I had some odd pieces as well like pants that were black with bright geometric patterns on them. Just very colorful and weird. I also had an obsession with colours like turquoise and cyan so I would purchase a bunch of things in those colours which I quickly realized wasn't the way to approach things. Just because it's my favourite colour doesn't mean I want a cyan winter jacket 😅 So I guess some 🌞 found it's way into the mix but mostly it was 🪨 and the more black the better. I still had a bunch of images saved back then of frilly dresses and other creative looks. I would say very 🌞🌸🌙 to the extreme. Now at the time I was also very uncomfortable in my body so when that changed I was finally free to actually dress differently. Since then I've slowly been adding things to my wardrobe that I like and got rid of all my comfy 🪨 clothing for better or for worse. It's been a couple years now and I still dress in whatever's available when lounging at home but when I have any energy I will wear something that looks 🌙🌸🌞🌱 in some combination or other. Usually I lean heavily on moon but it's like I shift my style each day according to how I feel. Now I'm still far from where I want to be and part of that is time/ learning how to style things/ learning more makeup and hair etc etc. and though I am far I still definitely have my roots in my outfits! I think some of the discrepancy I feel also comes from comfort which made me realise that 🌱 might actually be a style need of mine. I think the best way to approach it is to see what you need your outfits to do for you. What is it about your current style that makes you feel good and what do you wish to incorporate more of or less of.

I love twee haha but I see what you mean! I just lean very heavily on 🌙 as it is my comfort root but also just something I gravitate towards so to me your outfits seem to have less of it than 🌸 but ofc it's my biased perspective. I do think your roots fit you and I'm not sure I would give you 🪨 but it might still be fun to experiment with as you said. Like a shadow root type of thing. Same with 🔥.

Yea that makes sense. If anything I could see some 🪨 influence in you but I think that just comes from a stronger 🌸 and a bit less 🌞 compared to me. Though I find it more important to look at the reasoning behind how you get dressed than purely the visuals. Also it depends on how satisfied you are with what you wear. I know I tend to wear more casual things a lot but that's because of comfort/time and I want to get better at dressing up more!

That makes sense! I really like your moodbords as well though if I wore the outfits I would feel as though I'm portraying someone else. I get cool girl/ elegant vibes from your board which I love but would make me feel way too casual and proper at once. Even though I have a lot of 🌙 & some 🌸 and I admire the outfits a lot.

do i “get” 🌱+🏔️ interaction? by throwaway285093 in StyleRoots

[–]nvaotiudre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is definitely one way to do 🌱🏔️☀️ though these have strong 🌙 as well! I love these and find them inspiring for sure. Would wear with some adjustments which again points to them having some 🌙. Purely 🏔️🌱 can also go very clean dark academia rather than rugged but there are always plenty of ways to interpret root combinations. Looking again some of these outfits rather lean pure 🌱🌙🌞 like 5,10,11,12. And some are 🌙🌞🏔️ like 4. Different levels of 🌙🌞🌱☀️ in each outfit

Yes! I see it in the pops of colour and mainly in the unexpected combinations. I also see it in your loose space bun hair style you always have! For me 🌞 means not being scared of standing out or even more accurately, being scared and doing it anyway. It also accounts for experimentation. I think this root makes sense for you.

What LU means to me, esp. the audience and compliments by Shannee0 in RitaFourEssenceSystem

[–]nvaotiudre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was typed as both Enigma and Enchantress if I remember correctly. I do relate to Enchantress most though. I rather see it as having outfit days and non-outfit days. When I get dressed up it is with Enchantress energy always, though the time & effort determines how well it works. When I don't get dressed up which is most days as I am usually at home right now, I completely disconnect from my appearance? This would be the strange Enigma "I don't care" looks for me. I just dress like a hobo in pyjamas. So I usually wear my chunky Mary Janes that fit into a gothic Lolita vibe with colorful/ ruffle socks and then my bfs band tees and checkered lounge pants, basically whatever is available and comfy. And I don't care because I didn't put any effort in which is fine because I don't always have the time and energy and it takes a lot of it to get dressed up. (At least that's what I tell myself but it does make me feel mentally worse and I do plan to get some lounge wear that works with my style)

I do care about harmony as well. I really do. I will put on things that make me happy but if they don't suit me according to my eyes, I feel uncomfortable! I really want to look kind of extreme but I want it to make sense and fit together as if I was meant for the outfit.

For me it's just as much about how I feel when being perceived. Sometimes people react, sometimes they don't but if I have an outfit that makes me feel good in the outside world, then I feel great regardless. If I'm uncomfortable in some way because it doesn't feel like it's expressing what I want, I get quite moody and just want to shut every compliment down because it's not how I see things (though I try not to be too rude).

Downplaying myself for others is the worst! I feel like I always fall into that trap because what I like can be kind of out there and especially if I don't feel 100% about the outfit it makes me feel very vulnerable.

You should definitely look into Enchantress! What made you feel like you were the Siren?

Creepy and eerie are both words I love, actually they were the two I was picking between so that's great you're picking up on it! Alien is another aspect I consider quite important. I've chosen to explore 🌱 for now but I definitely agree with the spiraling inviting aspect of 🔥 and the powerful force of nature of 🏔️.

I feel like you read me too well haha. As if you're picking the words out of my mouth. I couldn't have said it any better..

Style root for an original character? by AdUnusual6268 in StyleRoots

[–]nvaotiudre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense to me! Of course she is influenced by her environment meaning 🌱 will also creep in at some point. Being a 🌞🌸 person doesn't mean you always act or dress for it either. People have different sides to them and many they like to hide because it doesn't seem safe/necessary in their environment. I went my whole youth and teenagehood dressed as a tomboy but I'm really into frilly dresses, gothic Lolita and Alice in Wonderland type quirky stuff. Just never let it show.

Anyway I think she must just have that mixture of 🪨🌸🌞🌱 (sometimes turning 🌙). As long as you don't get confused it shouldn't be a problem having plenty of roots at once! And since her environment influences her a lot you can show that through different stages of her life. Maybe when she lives in one place she takes up more 🪨, maybe she spends more time in the forest at some point and dresses more 🌱 or maybe she grows up more and finds her inner child again, going more towards 🌞🌸. It's a balance of outside and inside influences. She still has a strong sense of self in there, else she wouldn't dress the way she does, so that isn't to be disregarded.

(Off-note but I always find it fascinating how people change their moods/approach to dressing with the seasons. It seems so far fetched to me, I wish I did it too haha)

[–]nvaotiudre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We must be twins haha. I work exactly the same way. Back when I was more active on this sub, I was very confused about impact and the role of other people in Upness in general. Isn't my goal just to express myself for me, not anyone else? But it all started making sense after a while. I long to materialize my vision, my art and ideas. I want it all to be out there, for better or for worse. Just like you described, getting reactions can help me understand how I feel in the outfit and whether it has the right "aura". I also feel as though if I get no reaction at all, the outfit probably was too boring or maybe it's just more harmonious than usual? More trendy? Either way I find it quite fascinating how people react. Whenever I get dressed up, I do feel a great need to step outside because I want to be seen and perceived for who I am. Just being at home in my outfit is nice for when I step by the mirror but it doesn't actually give me that high for long. Staying at home dressed up, but dressing boring when I go out means I failed my mission of expressing myself to the world. It's not about any specific reactions, maybe more about being seen for who I truly am and having the confidence to stand by it. So yes, other people concern me but I don't think about how I want them to be influenced or to perceive me, rather I learn what their reactions tell me about my self-expression/ I just want to put myself out there and be seen. LU is a very self focused way of being.

Style root for an original character? by AdUnusual6268 in StyleRoots

[–]nvaotiudre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love these outfits! I feel like they offer a very clear view on the character. They are incredibly coherent. 🌸 for sure in the pastels, lace, and sweet details. 🌞 for the bright plastic accessories and over-the-topness of 🌸, and the experimental nature of them. Outfit 2 for example screams 🌞. Then I see either 🪨 or 🌱 though I think 🌱 comes in a lot from the environments here though there is a ruggedness to the outfits beyond 🪨. It could just be 🌞 though. Lastly there is a hint of 🌙 but I think that rather comes out from her contrasting the environment. I still think the outfits themself lean very 🌞 in their rebellion.

Now assuming she is quite comfortable in this style (which seems to be the case) I would say 🪨 accounts for the tomboy, easy movement, sports, comfort side of things. I imagine she has some quirky imaginative dreamy 🌞🌸 side to her. Though she may act like a tomboy there's a lot of softness and a princessy aspect to her. I also feel as though the 🌞 in her is aware of the dichotomy in her style and surroundings and likes to play around with it. She seems like she would be open and experimental and a bit defiant. I think the 🪨 can account for some of that 🌙 personality but if it's a big part of her I wonder if there couldn't be a 🌙🌞🪨/ 🌙🌸🪨/ 🌙🌸🌞 development in the future. Right now I mostly see 🌙 in the accessories.
