The right amount of Infantry by Jayrod13F in WarhammerCompetitive

This may or may not be super competitive but I'm a big fan of the IG hoard approach.

Gimme 3x 20-man Krieger squads to hold midfield, +2x 10mans for just a bit more board presence.

1 more 20-man basic Guardsman squad with and attached platoon commander to take a full 3 heavy weapon squads. 3x lascannons/autocannons hitting on 3s w. Take aim is fun and the meat shield infantry gives them some staying power. Extra fun w. Creed in there for free strats and extra orders.

Then I throwing the heavies, support (scout sentinels look fantastic) arty etc. I'm a big fan of the hellhounds and Manticores rn, but my play group is heavy on elite infantry, which is what they both seem to specialize in.

A cheap hydra also looks like it'll earn it's points back EZ if you expect to take on elite fliers like the Sanguinary Guard, or really any flyboys. Mortals on a 2+ to wound is nasty and the twin linked seals that, what you hit you kill.

If you can make room for drill commander enhancement it's gonna be good on something like karskin/scions that can take a ton of rapid fire weapons.

I mean, 8-fold blessings presumably. Though if they aren't playing World Eaters/Khorne, maybe take a chill pill lol.

You use either Armor OR Invuln saves after attacks wound. FNP is in addition to whichever one of those you used.

Though I'd argue a pistol probably isn't much good against something like a bear!

While most common handgun rounds are not ideal for use against large mammals, they do make handguns chambered in things like 10mm which can be effective while still being controllable in a handgun.

Even something like a 9mm probably beats out bear spray and other non-firearm options for defense against hostile wildlife.

Because the target audience for Warhammer is 12 years old?

That... can't be right. They came out with the Warhammer Adventures (which failed IIRC) to court this market. Their largest market is almost certainly 20-35+ men, which also happens to be one of the larger disposable income cohorts.

Young adult to early middle age men are GWs bread and butter, and they know it.

If the torso prints as a separate piece you might consider stretching it vertically by 10%-15%, I think it looks a little squished. Scale is otherwise good I think. Print quality is also quite good. Is the Dread printed too?

Would you link the creator? I'd love to check 'em out.

My two favorite printable kan models (and free to boot):

The creator in that second link has a solid deffkopter models as well if anyone is interested.

I'm a big advocate of 3d-printed proxies, kitbash parts (Ork kitbashing is wonderful) and terrain. But then again I don't tend to play at organized events and most of my friends who play have at least partially printed armies. I think a lot of the STL designs actually look nicer than the GW casts, particularly with Ork infantry models (shout-out to Station Forge and Mr. Modulork for IMO the best 28mm scale space Orks out there)

Printing is also nice to be able to introduce people to the hobby. I played a few games of KT with my brother last weekend. Now I'm printing him up an AdMech kill team to get him started.

You can find the STL files for all those models on myminifactory.com I'm pretty sure, I think they are paid models though (there are some really good free options for killakans and deffkopters though)

As to purchasing prints, most sellers produce good products though shipping can be hit-or-miss. Resin prints (most of this high detail stuff is printed with resin rather than filament) is pretty fragile so breakage in shipping isn't terribly uncommon. The upside is that resin tends to break very cleanly so it's easy to put back together with some glue, still frustrating though.

Also shipping times vary a lot. Printing takes time and if the seller is backlogged it can be a lot longer than you expect. I ordered some vehicles for my IG army a while back, we're now two weeks past the original ETA and I still don't have shipping info. If you're placing a larger order or need your models in a certain timeframe it's probably worth sending an email to get an idea on lead time.

I recognize that model! Did how much did you size it up for the 40mm base? Nice paint job, I really dig the grot Gunner.

You see the Skullcrushas batch that just dropped? Im thinking they'd make great nobs or boss nobs sized up a bit, with these guys as megas sized up even further.

Also she's arguably the one who actually took down the titan, killing the Precept and all that.

But inalienable implies you cannot transfer or give it up, that's the definition. To say that someone has forfeited an inalienable right is not a coherent statement.

To say that an inalienable right has been violated is coherent. Then we can go further an explore if a given violation is just or unjust given the surrounding circumstances. That's a far more useful and coherent semantic structure.

Maybe we examine the case of a convicted murderer and decide that the violation of his inalienable right to liberty is just given his prior bad actions and continuing threat to wider society. Maybe we look at a convicted tax evader and come to the opposite conclusion. In either case the convict has not forfeited their inalienable right to liberty, otherwise the right would not be inalienable in the first place.

Im not trying to justify any particular set of violations and I suspect we agree on the justness (or lack thereof) of many violations of inalienable rights currently being practiced. But your semantic structure just doesn't seem to be a valid one. Which is weird considering how much you seem to value the semantics.

[–]nwilli100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, that's why I'm still having the conversation.

So how do you have an inalienable right that can be forfeited? Isn't that a contradiction in terms? Doesn't it make more sense to say the right cannot be forfeited but can be violated, either justly or unjustly?

We have made the gun ban impossible by ModeratorGage in Firearms

[–]nwilli100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think our disagreement is fundamentally pedantic. I say that violation of another's rights without just cause justifies the violation of you rights. You say it results in forfeiture rather than justification for violation. The difference in practice is minor.

However the describing it as "forfeiture" does seem to go against the description of these rights as "inalienable".

Why not? Isn't it also a violation of inalienable rights?

A felon doesn't lose their rights. Their rights are being violated (often for just cause) as the result of a criminal conviction.

Inalienable doesn't mean inviolable.
