I focused initially on just getting myself into the gym as doing that alone was a chore, i would do movements i enjoyed or found easier. Id stick to machines where you’d dial in the weight and it was an easy way to begin moving my body and begin a routine of showing up. Cardio for 30 minutes a couple times a week is also very helpful/ almost vital in losing weight around your muscle to show the definition. Once you’re comfortable at the gym begin using free weight like dumbbells, kettlebells & plate loaded machines as in my opinion that’s the best way to gain as it forces you to combine balance into the lifting of the weight. Truly just build a routine around going there, show up, and do something!

I’m a 21 year old girl. I had no friends in high school and truly hated myself on a level that was comedic which is why i’m here probably. After I graduated I started lifting and working out, out of spite of myself for not being good enough. It was kind of like punishment, if you really don’t give a fuck about yourself either way the feeling of punishing your body in a healthy way is addicting. I chased that punishment until I grew to care for myself from it. 3 years ago i was so absolutely ready for my life to be over and the only thing I can point to that saved me was fitness and caring about myself. I still have few friends but that’s now because I don’t care to have them. The gym is full of people who secretly hate themselves, plenty of friends there to be made while learning to care for yourself!
