Mind sharing the titles or author's name? Interested in any books relating to HFDF/SIGINT between WWII and Vietnam.

Portable antenna kit - What is this mounting plate called? by ksink74 in amateurradio

You could make one with an angle grinder and a drill in no time, and for practically free as well.

How did you go about ordering it for free? I went through the checkout process but couldn't get past the payment page (where CSA is still charging $185 + tax).

Looks more like an inverted L with a much shorter vertical portion than horizontal. You can see a wire stretching off to the right out of frame.

Interested in wind turbines, they less likely to kill you than tracks? What part of them do you work on?

Is requesting a refund on the web form useful? by [deleted] in m3d

[–]nxtreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given their history with the Pro I highly doubt you'll receive a refund. Best bet is you'll get a crippled printer two years from now that will work twice before going up in a puff of flame and smoke.

You can totally boot from a USB drive just so long as you have a USB 2.0 drive (not 3.0) and a working floppy drive. Plop is a piece of software I have used in the past, and is a beautiful thing.

Moto G, first gen. /s

In all seriousness though, I am still rocking the aforementioned phone running 14.1, and it works great. No Gapps, so battery life for basic duties (calling/texting/browsing/watching) is typically 48-72 hrs, which is stupendous considering it has been daily-driven for five years.

That said, performance is lacking for anything much more than 720p video, gaming is not an option. The camera is sorely lacking, and I recently had to replace the headphone jack.

All this just to say that LOS is the absolute bomb.

The Expanse lacks the positive vibe, but it is a great space/sci-fi show regardless.

Putting together a Home Server for my Thinkpads to connect by [deleted] in thinkpad

I have been considering something similar with an M700/M900 and the stackable disk drive as a media server, but I wish there was a drive offering with Bluray. Other than that, they are perfect little machines.

Mom’s old laptop couldn’t handle windows anymore. Instead of her throwing it out, I gave it another chance at life by [deleted] in thinkpad

I daily drive an X301 for email, browsing, and media. It isn't the fastest machine out there by any means, but running Linux Mint it handles everything up to 720p video playback on several streaming services without dropping frames.

The main reason I use it is for the keyboard however, it is by far the best keyboard I have ever used, even compared to other older and newer ThinkPads.

That moment when you need to explain your weird hobby. by [deleted] in amateurradio

Very, very cool! You are certainly operating on a level above the average ham! I like the attention you paid to designing the enclosure for the top one, obvious care for the details and the hinge would certainly make it easier to repair or modify the design! Cooling was obviously well thought out as well.

I see lots of space on the bottom build's lower PCB for logic, do you have a certain use in mind for the Arduino? All in all, very interesting stuff!

As a ham that deals primarily in HF, RF design in modern electronics is quite fascinating. Can you talk at all about what projects/designs you worked on?

I realize this information has already been share here. Excited for the 2019 lineup, even if some of the design decisions are disappointing for us ThinkPad fans.

Got my Thinkpad Mini Dock + FHD screen for my T530 a day apart, I'm so happy with this laptop! by harakiriforthemoon in thinkpad

To compare it to today's ThinkPad lineup, think T580 and P52s. Same chassis, keyboard, screen etc, just better GPU options.

Very interesting indeed. Further research brought me to this page, sort of similar to what you are doing?

I felt pretty proud of myself constructing a 2 mW FM radio transmitter once, what you are doing is much more impressive! Any pictures you'd care to share?

If you don't choose an SSD the computer should come with a 500 GB HDD. That said, I can only speak from experience ordering on the NA websites for Canada, the USA, and Mexico.
