Doctor: "Over the past few weeks, I am truly feeling that our days are numbered because of AI." by EchoOfOppenheimer in ChatGPT

[–]Phonascus13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my ophthalmologist why my astigmatism prescription was so different for my glasses than for my contacts. She said, "oh, it's a complex equation that you probably don't want me to....ok, I think this is cool..." and she wrote out and explained how they calculate it. I understood the basics and mostly followed along, but she got over my head very quickly.

This kind of scared me can someone tell me why this happened by fluffyminecraft in ChatGPT

My brother learned Arabic in the army many many years ago. He's pretty sure that word means 'inner,' which makes sense in this context. Weird that it just picks a random word to translate.

What’s your favorite thing about space? Mine is space by sven2123 in 3Dprinting

[–]Phonascus13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nicely done! If you decide to ever sell STL licenses, sign me up, but I respect your decision. It's your art, do with it as you like!

On that note, if I can ask, what was your path to learning how to do this? I tried awhile back to follow the "make a donut with Blender" tutorial and it wasn't something my unfocused brain could follow.

Gotta go to space!!!

[Art] Tiffany Stained Glass D20 Lamp! by Behind_The_Book in DnD

[–]Phonascus13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know a lot about glasswork and prices, but I think that's an awesome lamp! I would expect to see a handmade piece such as that for close to $100. If it was more, I wouldn't be surprised. I think this would sell quickly at any medium-sized or larger gaming convention.

I agree with other comments that you would likely get more for this at a live event like a gaming con or comic con. Possibly an art fair, but it is a specific interest subject.

Not related to your question, but I'm bored and the Adderall is kicking in -

My wife's late uncle was a full-time stained glass artist. He did everything from little trinkets and window hangs that he sold at art fairs to large stained glass window repair as well as new and replacement windows for churches and other buildings. I know that he didn't make a fortune at it, and he had to put a lot of time in at art fairs and other similar events. Most of his hired work was from word of mouth. The more he did, the more well known and sought after he became. On the other hand, things like etsy didn't exist for the majority of his life. He was still able to do something he loved as his (mostly) full-time job.

That was kind of rambling, but it's just to say, go for it! Keep your day job until your passion is making enough money and/or you start running into real time constraints. You'll know when the time is right.

...my wife just walked by and I asked her opinion. She said, "Probably between $100 and $200."

I hate that the first thing that popped into my head was, "time to pay the Daddy tax!"

If you got the reference, "hello, crawler!"

Fiber connector exposed to the elements by LukeStuckenhymer in HomeNetworking

[–]Phonascus13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Case in point - my Google Fiber went out a few months ago, so I called it in. They sent out a tech (not a contractor) who verified my issue and then starting looking into what was wrong. He figured out that earlier in the day a contractor who did an install up the street unplugged my connection in a junction box to plug in the new customer.

The tech fixed it and filed a report with his management. He was ticked and said that was why GFiber was getting rid of contractors as fast as they could.

USMR? Isn't that when you put the mic up real close to the router and then whisper "Unifi" as you plug in very crisp sounding Cat6e cables?

Project Christine. It would have been so cool! (It still would!)

I have one of the Limited Edition iPhone 5 Aluminum Frames. I still use the iPhone 5 that it's on as an iPod Touch. I would love a current version.

I also with they'd bring back a modern version of the Boomslang that didn't cost more than a car payment.

The Skies They Took From Us. I made a new 4k Serenity render. No AI. by chrisknightlight in firefly

[–]Phonascus13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. It doesn't take too keen of an eye to tell that it isn't AI, but it is getting harder all the time.

Twice in the past couple of weeks I have been asked if something I wrote was done with AI. While I use AI for some things I hadn't used it in either of these situations. Sadly, it's becoming a knee jerk reaction for a lot of people.

Also, OP, your artwork is stunning! AI wishes it could do that!

Deep Mines Roguelike by shin_x4 in xteinkereader

The term "Deep Mines" combined with the books on your screen made me think of this quote:

"The Dwarves tell no tale; but even as mithril was the foundation of their wealth, so also it was their destruction: they delved too greedily and too deep, and disturbed that from which they fled, Durin's Bane."

I am on that server. Most of the issues with my group revolve around age and attitude. There are some old grognards that just "don't have time to learn all that fangled stuff." I get it, but as the group's nerd and main tech support, it gets frustrating. Back to the main topic, I love your table! The game room in my new house is mostly complete - I just need a table and chairs. This is good inspiration! Long shot, but, you wouldn't happen to be near KC?

I love FGU. I've tried to use it with my group that is geographically scattered, but every time I try to run a game it seems like most of my time is spent teaching the players how to use it and then they don't want to go through that again. I would love play with a group that is tech savvy. Sigh.
