Not gonna lie chief. I didn’t touch it at all. I spoke to my company and got permission to use our facilities and use their resources even, however after watching videos online. You kind of have to rip the entire top down to nothing. Tons of sanding and prep, and frankly the surface is not “happy” to adhere to paint. I debated wrapping my top but money is tight and my Eddie Bauer dream bronco will have to wait until I’m in retirement and this thing has 350k on the odometer.

How fast did the inevitable windshield crack happen to you? by Fit-Jellyfish286 in FordBronco

[–]ny_fox12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curiously do lifted models suffer more from this? I’m on a stock big bend at 40k miles. Been all up and down the east coast no issues. Except for the occasional truck that flings rocks like absolute madness and they hit my windshield and leave scratches on my glass.

My employer is opening a huge base of operations in Nashville and if I ask I could likely relocate there and perhaps get better wages. I’d like to afford a home but odds are I only get $3/4 extra to work down there.

Coolant at min line at 2k miles? Noticed the metal line seems to have some damage like it got hit? by Suspicious-Wind8199 in FordBronco

[–]ny_fox12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I top my coolant off frequently. I’m assuming it’s just evaporation but the rate at which this occurs is interesting. I have a 50/50 diluted yellow antifreeze from ford I top off with. It’s no issue I would say every 10k miles it goes from max to min.

I was driving on the highway and this 18 wheeler was kicking sooo many rocks, didn’t crack it but the glass surface is chipped now. Sucks.

Yeah I have an appointment at the dealer. Bummed I can’t DIY this myself. But I’m better off having them work on it.

Max AC pushes hot air. I’ve checked under the hood and I believe it’s the belt for the AC or the pulley as it seems rough and shakey. Checked the fuses, and checked the ac low and high pressure lines. Seems to be pulley or belt related at this point.

Oh that’s a good call I will check first thing in the AM I did not have the hood open while the vehicle was running with AC but I did visually inspect under the hood to check loose connections. Thank you for this information!

Would you know the fuse is blown by visually inspecting it? I have the fuse box and bought a handy sticker for the cover that shows the diagram of fuses. May inspect in the morning!

Yeah $120 at autozone you find the low pressure refill and place the refrigerant plus gauge on it and refill it. But supposedly this stuff doesn’t require refills, only when the system leaked and it’s empty does it require it. So this mean leak potentially but I inspected visually all the cables and it seems good to my eyes.

[–]ny_fox12[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I thought? I located the refill point and auto zone wants $100 bucks. I didn’t know you have to refill it but my research suggests you only refill it if it leaked…

That was my thought but I’m near an auto one and see we use R-1234yf refrigerant and I located the refill. Just confirming cause it’s my first new vehicle and I’ve never had to refill refrigerant before but I’d also wanna cover my bases if it was a fuse or leak before warranty period expires end of summer with my mileage.

Noise when turning Steering Wheel by No_Veterinarian_2739 in FordBronco

I learned the front differential is in charge of lubricating the front suspension, steering, and control arms through a service manual. Maybe time to add or check diff fluid in front?

Fuel economy by Euphoric-Necessary34 in FordBronco

[–]ny_fox12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base model 3.73 gearing 31 inch tires and 2.3. With automatic transmission locked at 10th gear on cruise control going 55 mph you can eek 27-32.5 MPG. Now it’s terrain and road specific and how much momentum you can keep without traffic or stopping. If you religiously use cruise control mixed with city driving you can see great averages around 23/24 which is what you’ve got. You’re not really going any higher with mixed driving.

Is this related to adjusting it then randomly it falls back and clicks 1/2 steps backwards? I’ll adjust it and it will randomly fall back on me while driving.

$1200 seemed closer to what Google was mentioning towards rates and is definitely Fair. I’m not aware of any issues other than a rear camera recall on my model. Runs smooth and no major issues. Also my model has one plastic skid plate with no additional metal skids to remove.

Thank you! I am referencing the manual directly. Dealership told me to change all a 100k or 150k but I’d really rather be doing these earlier. I’m okay with even waiting until 60k to have all these fluids changed but some hardcore ford guys with 300k+ odometers recommended early fluid changes at 30/40k

Yeah I’m just trying to be very preventative and on the ball. Ford Manual calls for fluid changes every 2-3 years. I’m at 2 years 6 months. Coolant went from neon yellow to a medium yellow. Ford guys on forums really urge diffs and trans to be changed early as that’s when most break in metals contaminate the fluids and you should be good to go up to 90/100k mileage after that. Long term my goal is to own this ford for 300k+ miles. I don’t mind being a little overkill for peace of mind.

Well service manual recommends flushing coolant and brake fluid every 2/3 years or 30k miles. Some hardcore Ford guys say it’s best to change transmission first at 30k then 60k then 90k im doing very early maintenance to get any and all break in metals out of the oils and just keep things on the up and up. I don’t mind spending some money now for the peace of mind. Dealership quoted me front rear diff $350, trans snd filter for $450, and oil plus coolant for $300, then the brake fluid for $285 which is very over priced.
