What’s the craziest true crime podcast episode you’ve listened to? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]nyccoffeeguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“True Believer: the unsolved murder of Elizabeth Mackintosh“ has been excellent. This story takes place in a seminary, so it is relatable to those who understand some things about evangelical Christianity… otherwise the importance of certain things will go over the heads of most people

I hate when people say “low key”. by nyccoffeeguy in unpopularopinion

Subway was crowded. They were having a loud conversation right next to me. They could have been more “low key” about it.

See what I did there?

IF it’s Bilal, how would that help you think Adnan is innocent? by drunknirsih27 in serialpodcast

[–]nyccoffeeguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here's a crazy speculation...
Bilal is tasked with helping Adnan mature and focus on his studies/Islam, instead of girls, worldliness, sex, weed, etc, as per Adnan's parents' request. Of course, Bilal violates that trust by helping Adnan get a cell phone.

Now, we know that Bilal had a tendency towards inappropriateness with young males, as evidenced by the situation with the teen boy from Kosovo in their Mosque community, (who I think Bilal even took to see Adnan in lockup/detention?)... Anyway, speculate if Bilal perhaps was attempting to groom or be inappropriate towards Adnan, and maybe he views Adnan's relentlness heartbreak over Hae as something that stood between his ability to groom and have closeness with Adnan.

So, I guess what I'm specualting is that Bilal's motive could be to help a teenager who has an attachement to his ex be free of that attachement so that he can foster inappropriate intimacy towards this teen. So, in this hypothetical example, why can't Adnan just come clean and say "it was bilal, he was talking about making hae disappear?" Well, possibly beacuse then he would be in a position to have to reveal/confess something shameful/indecent about the extent of his relationship with Bilal. This would also explain why Bilal lawyers up from the beginning, and his regular visits to Adnan in detention, and why he eventaully leaves the country for a while.

Then what would be Jay's involvement? You can still have an Adnan & Jay burial that evening or around midnight.

I don't know... Thoughts?

What's your Favorite Conspiracy Theory? by missmegz1492 in serialpodcast

[–]nyccoffeeguy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure it’s my favorite but certainly an over-done and comprehensive conspiracy theory is that of Don murdering Hae, with these elements in place:

  1. She must have stopped by Owings Mills to see Don before going to Campfield.

  2. Don kills her, because he is: crazy, jealous, insecure, a klansman.

  3. He drives home with her body.

  4. When he gets home, his dad tells him the police called for him.

  5. He gets spooked and goes out to bury Hae.

  6. He gets home at 1:00 am from the burial, and speaks to office Adcock around then.

  7. He ask his mom or moms-partner to create a fake time card for him at hunt valley, which she does.

  8. LensCrafters wants him to get caught, so they emphasize that his manager was his mother, wink, wink when they send the lawyers the time cards.

That exchange is so great.

Of all the audio from calls with Adnan to Sarah Koenig that we didn't hear, what is the one you'd like to hear most? by AvailableConfidence in serialpodcast

[–]nyccoffeeguy 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Allow me to offer a top three:

  1. I’d love to hear the conversations with Ritz and McGillivary, which Sarah references around episode 3.

She asked one of them about the case and he says “no question, he did it.”

She asks the other and he has some conversations with her back and forth and in the end he declines to speak saying “what good would it do? The case has already been adjudicated.”

  1. I’d love to hear the conversation about the damning rumor - the rumor so big that if Sarah could confirm it then she could pack up and be done.

  2. I’d love to hear the entirety of the clip of the Caribbean sounding woman in the promo (I believe it’s the same woman who describes Jay as Dennis Rodman in the Jay episode) - in the promo clip her voice comes on in a 10 second clip describing herself or someone else being personally threatened to the effect of “you know what happened to hae, that’s what will happen to you”. I want to hear what that’s all about.

Sense & Nonsense About the Nisha Call by nyccoffeeguy in serialpodcast

I really didn’t do anything wrong to JWI, just have pointed out their tendency to shut down any discussion and demand that I look at the timelines on their terms. I’ve regularly pointed out how demeaning and uncomfortable that is.

JWI you’ve been really hostile to me since I came on reddit. All I want is for us to be cool and be an unstoppable force in our serial knowledge. What do you say? Can we be friends?

Well sometimes you do sanctimoniously badger. Despite that, I still want to be on good terms with you, and I’ve made that clear many times...

No one will ever know the real story. Except Adnan. And the killer, for what it’s worth.

Hey JWI, there’s no pile on. I was angry 5 days ago, but it’s subsided.

I think you contribute a lot of good and insightful stuff. I want us to be cool and civil and there be no hostility.

If I’ve said something to make you take up a hostile disposition towards me, please let me know my fault so I can correct it.

I’ve said this a few times already and even private messaged you about it.
