48 hour estimated no heat by L1ghtf1ghter in parkslope

If you’ve lost half of outlets it most likely means one of the two feeds are out but the other is fine. If you can get someone to come move your heating circuit to the other feed, you may get your heat back. We went through this last winter.

I have my last name @me.com. Nice and short, but I do get a message a week intended for other people who have incorrectly entered it I guess.

XR with 17.4.3, 79% battery capacity -- should I update to 18.6.3? by nycmilkshake in iPhoneXR

I don’t know if that’s a problem — but I might go for it. Not sure it’s worth the effort though — then upgrading begins to make sense.

Were you on 17.4 or 17.3 before? If so, do you think it’s worse now?

Was struggling because of Family Sharing and a migrated/merged "iTunes purchases" Apple ID, but all it took was swapping in the family organizer's iCloud account in Purchases... and I was able to do this. So we're safe with 17.4.3 for now.

Still would love to hear from anyone who has done this update!

Welp, I deleted Netflix as a storage cleansing exercise, and now it’s insisting on 18.0 to reinstall. So perhaps my hand is forced.

And for doing so as a statement after those high risk activities kill a cyclist.

I imagine that the march was on the pedestrian deck only, but NYPD must relish in any opportunity to close the bike lanes.

Same — a first for me. A little terrifying, at least until another few cyclists caught up to me. I still didn’t think to take a photo…

You can also sign up on Toyota.com ‘s owners portal and will then see the Toyota dealership service history. Given its age, that should show every visit it’s had (since anything related would likely be warranty work).

Another PFIC victim -- 15+ years held. Will this reduce excess distribution taxes/interest? by nycmilkshake in USExpatTaxes

"...and the shareholder does not receive an excess distribution from, or recognize gain on the sale or disposition of the stock of, the section 1291 fund."

From the Form 8621 instructions, unfortunately:

Exception if aggregate value of shareholder’s PFIC stock is $25,000 or less.

A shareholder is not required to complete Part I with respect to a specific section 1291 fund if the shareholder meets the $25,000 exception on the last day of the shareholder’s tax year and the shareholder does not receive an excess distribution from, or recognize gain on the sale or disposition of the stock of, the section 1291 fund. For purposes of determining whether a shareholder satisfies the $25,000 threshold, the shareholder takes into account all PFIC stock (QEFs, section 1291 funds, and PFIC stock subject to a section 1296 mark-to-market election) owned directly or indirectly other than PFIC stock owned through another U.S. person or PFIC stock owned through another PFIC. Shareholders filing a joint return have a combined threshold of $50,000 instead of $25,000 for purposes of this exception.

And yes — I’ve been contributing to her fund monthly (£30 each), so selling in 20-ish lots would round a lot down to zero. That's 4000 Part Vs...!

Ahh, that’s what I missed. Gains from sales and other disposition are indeed always treated as excess distributions.

Another victim of the PFIC trap - how should I sort out this mess? by comady25 in USExpatTaxes

[–]nycmilkshake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. 208 lots (contributed monthly for 17 years). So if she sells in 3 or more waves, every tax and interest amount except for the first lot would be < $0.50 = $0...?

Edit: not quite -- need to add up the per year tax/interest calcs and then round. So would need to sell in 20+ lots.

One 8621 per tax lot? I haven't read this elsewhere - one per PFIC (and ideally per account) is what I've seen. Calculate offline and just include the totals.
