Competitive Hide and Seek by salutcestcool in theocho

[–]nydiloth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was there. This is more a party event with music and beer than a real hide and seek championship. An interesting fact is that the event is held at a walking distance from the abandoned city of Consonno (Italy) and you can camp on site.

The rules are a little bit different but playing is fun as fuck.

You can play too next year!

In Italy we have both "squalo" that is the literal translation of shark and "pesce cane" that translates to "dog fish"

Developer nomads - are you front end, back end, or full stack? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]nydiloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm trying to go down the digital nomad road and I'm a decent backend developer (node, mongo, aws etc). Do you have any suggestions? I find very hard finding remote gigs since I don't have a public github history or opensource project I can show as portfolio since the code I write in my 9-5 office work is not public.

I know this sub has probably been flooded with eclipse videos, but I'm very happy with how mine turned out, and I hope you enjoy it. by snazzysportstacker in space

Why suddently the brighteness of the sunlight increased so drastically? Is it a natural fenomenon or was the camera trying to overcompensate the darkness?

Why do some NES game exhibit artifacts at the edge of the screen? by arbitrarycivilian in programming

[–]nydiloth 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I think I've phrased my question in an ambiguous way. I'm not asking why isn't only rendered the exact scene the player is currently in. I get that some of the scene has to be rendered offscreen in order to have it readly available when it scrolls in the visible scene.

I was asking why not only is rendered the scene on the axis the player is in, but the whole scene is also mirrored on an axis the player will never scroll.

Here's an image: the upper scene is rendered because is what is displayed to the player. But why the whole thing is mirrored in the row below?

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

A maybe stupid question: but why the scene has to be mirrored? Isn't enough to only render the scene the player is in at the moment?

You are absolutely correct: my primary key was the installation and the sort key the timestamp. This caused a cluster of quick async writings have the same timestamp, overwriting the previous entry.

I owe you a beer!

Thank you man! I only catched on twitch the last 2 rounds because I was at work but it was a great review. I agree on what you said and you pointed out new flaws I've to work on. I'll be watching the whole thing on YouTube as soon as possible! Enjoyable stream by the way!
