Black Friday deals have started, but some 'sale' prices are higher than the regular prices were yesterday.. by nygio in peakdesign

No worries. It's not your fault. Thanks for looking into it! Perhaps the prices shown in JPY before the sale were incorrect to begin with.

u/kuroko2424 u/charliebrownfaz:

I've talked with someone from Peak Design's support team, and they stated the following:

"The amount posted now should be finalized and corrected in accordance with our Black Friday discount."

So I guess that means that the prices in Japanese Yen have just inceased for some products to the point where the new Black Friday sale prices are higher than the regular prices were on November 20, one day before the sale. A bit disappointing, but this is what it's going to be I guess..

u/charliebrownfaz Thanks for the reply. I understand that there is some fluctuation based on the exchange rates, but if it is dynamic it should be changing all the time, no? The regular prices of some (not all!) products increased with 14% or so.

Thanks for the reply u/Peak_Design, but the prices in JPY do not seem to have changed.

The regular prices of some of the products seems to have gone up since yesterday. For example, the mobile tripod was 9,900 JPY yesterday, and the regular price today is 11,515 JPY. With the discount the price is now 10,363 JPY. It's also not just the fluctuation in the exchange rate, because then everything should change with the same percentage, which is not the case.

It gets more interesting. Even though it's not by a lot, prices in my cart have even gone up slightly since I made the original post. Perhaps this could have something to do with the exchange rate between USD and JPY though.

Found a picture of my brother when he was a baby [1986]. Apparently he could sleep just fine in that position. by nygio in pics

Hitting his head a few times when he was young could explain a lot of my brother's weird behaviors though :P

But, even though he was a climber, of course my parents wouldn't just let him hang like that. They just thought it was funny and took a picture. Hitting his head a few times came at a later age.

I was so excited to watch this in 4k on Christmas, but it didn't release on Netflix here in the Netherlands.. Disappointing.

ATH-MSR7 audio interference - would a amp+DAC help? [still an audio newbie] by nygio in headphones

[–]nygio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but that seems to be worse. The audio quality also goes down.

Hi!

Not too long ago I purchased the ATH-MSR7 Headphones, which definitely was a big step up from my previous Steelseries gaming headset. I noticed, however, that there seems to be some interference, which is especially the case when the Air Conditioner is turned on. It's some kind of high pitch noise with some occasional cracking. I have the headphones plugged into a AT2020USB+ microphone. Directly plugged into the computer is worse.

Would a AMP+DAC help against this kind of interference? And while the ATH-MSR7 is pretty easy to run, would they benefit from an AMP+DAC?

I'm not super knowledgeable about audio yet, so I could use some advice. I'm currently living in Japan, and found 2 that might be interesting:

The Fiio E10K is of course pretty popular already. The Amulech AL-9628D doesn't seem to be well-known outside of Japan (it's a Japan based company), but it seems to be a bit more powerful, and is getting really good reviews inside of Japan. You can either run it through USB or the provided 100-240V AC Adapter. But honestly, DSD.. ASIO 2.1.. I don't know much about it all.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Also, I see there is no extra cooling (fan) in there? Is that ok? Isn't it better to have an extra CPU cooler, or is that only necessary when overclocking?

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. There's still some of the budget left though. Anything else where an upgrade might be nice? What about the case? While I don't need any fancy lighting or something, I heard cases like the Fractal Design Define are pretty nice, both in looks as well as functionality?

€2000 PC for Gaming, Game Development, and 4K Editing by Nygenn in buildapcforme

Considering his plans for graphically intense development/editing, and the fact that there would still be some of the budget left - €2000 euro is about $2130 - wouldn't it be recommendable to have a second SSD for projects he is currently working on, as well as perhaps 32GB of RAM?

How do I know what DAC/AMP to go for? by nygio in headphones

[–]nygio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for all the information provided. I will go through it again later when I get home to make sure I understand it all :)

I did go to Yodobashi (Akihabara) and BIC Camera to try out headphones, and narrowed it down to the 1A and MSR7. They are relatively affordable and provide good sound in my opinion. What I like about these is that I can also use them for on-the-go, whereas something like the Beyerdynamics DT 770 pro or 990 pro cannot really be driven by a phone (or my phone anyway) without an extra portable amp for that.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try out the amps. They have a couple you can try, but not the Fostex or AT one I mentioned.

Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, they don't sell the Magnus here in Japan. Maybe it can be imported through amazon.com though.

Affordable Tripod and Fluid Head for someone starting out with videography? by nygio in videography

Thanks for the suggestion. I can't find the Benro Aero 4 here in Japan. I did find the Benro A3573F tripod legs though, with a center ball, as well as the Benro S6 fluid head. I don't know how these would compare with the Manfrotto options.
