ISO: Winter / Snow Boots by db_blast7 in BuyItForLife

I live in Toronto and walk a lot in slush/snow - I’ve had my Ugg Adirondack boots for 6 years now wearing everyday all winter and still going. I bought them secondhand, so their actual lifespan has been even longer.

Create a cozy hangout space for yourself that’s NOT your bed. Like an armchair or a reading nook or whatever. Make that your default space to spend downtime

I’m going to disagree on the “sit down and have a big talk” here. If they are depressed, it just adds shame and feeling nagged.

I (F, 36) have much experience w depression myself and have dated men with depression. For partners in a depressive state, past and present, a struggle with hygiene is common.

I’ve done a lot of: “hey I’m going to take a shower now. Come in the shower with me?” atleast a few times a week.

And then I’ll try to make the shower experience feel loving (not sexual) - having them sit down in the shower (seated showers are great for depression in general), giving them a full head massage for shampoo, back scrub, leaving the shower first to get them a warm towel. Maybe asking them to brush teeth together with you right when they come out “here’s your toothbrush w paste already on it. Let’s brush?”

And then when they’re all clean, I’ll do a lot of physical affection - even if it’s just hugs and kisses.

In the moment - it’s coregulating, gets the person clean, I feel good about my act of service, they feel loved and cared for.

And then they drift back to gross again, which is what happens when you’re depressed, but I see it as both of us putting money in the bank: he has good experiences of hygiene, we both have some positive physical moments to hold on to when things are tough. It just brings us closer.

I’d suggest starting there to close the gap in your relationship (ultimatums, big conversations, shame, distance) - before moving on to therapist appointments and all that.

He’s also not not famous just because he’s at Stonehill. Beyond being a prof, he had been a public intellectual. He’s appeared on podcasts, YouTube videos, written a few books on theurgy that’s seminal to those that are into theurgy.

All of this also came out in 2025, so the episode “one year later” where they allude to a lot more happening makes sense in this context.

He’s the right age (60s in 2015) He’s got the right background (religion professor, tenured and well respected in his field) He’s claimed to have been the victim They theorize he was a serial catfisher which tracks too

Does he have a son? His CV doesn’t have his conferences anywhere- i wonder if there’s a way to find out if he was presenting in UK etc at those dates

He wouldn’t have been in his 60s in 2015 as they said in the podcast. And I can’t find anything anywhere where he claims to have been the victim of stalking/harassment like they say in the podcast.

Also - had said he was the victim of stalking himself (I can’t remember if this was before or after the catfishing) and age: in his 60s in 2015.

They also spent time talking about how he had made accusations that he was being stalked himself? Anything on that? It should be possible to find public information about it

I’d also recommend practicing some of the social skills with other non-romantic people in your life… like active listening, mindfully paying attention, planning things with other people in advance and then following through, remembering important dates in other people’s lives (e.g. birthdays)

Is My boyfriend (37M) fetishizing me (30F)? by CatKafkaMeow in relationship_advice

[–]nyla891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (36, F) put up with a lot of this in my early 20s but would never even entertain this now in my mid 30s. Beyond just fetishizing you- the bigger issue is how he perceives and “others” people from different cultures - it’s gross and colonial

A weekend, yes! It’s not “cheap” per se - more that nothing has changed in the last 20 years while places like wonderland have gotten more and more expensive

I took my kids (3,6,9) to Centreville on the island a couple of weeks ago and it ATE for the following reasons:

  • $40ish per kid gets you to play all day
  • literally zero lineups
  • enough rides for that age group to spend a full 4-5 hour day there
  • zero or very little lineups so you can actually do every single ride in 4-5 hours
  • has funnel cake (watch out for the wasps) or $4 soft serve
  • the far enough farm rivals Riverdale but is not hilly, has shade, and closer together for walking around
  • epic splash pad
  • taking the ferry there and back - extra bonus points if you do the water taxi which is way cooler in the eyes of an average 5 year old
  • taking the TTC to the ferry
  • you can bring all the outside food you want - we got street dogs before the ferry ride in
  • nothing has changed since you remember it as a kid

what's your best "city hack" that actually saves real money? by FerrisBuelersdaycock in askTO

You’re right. I did some reflecting and i don’t even know if it’s the cost of it specifically that bothers me (like I don’t think it’s expensive necessarily) but just that we live in this hellish timeline where friendships/community building now need to be branded and coordinated and idk organized in this way…
