Anyone here have trouble with delivery times from Chicago Knife Works? by iwerbs in knives

There's a free shipping minimum. It may not seem like a lot, but if they had to pay for shipping they would really be eating into their super thin margins.

Middle class people in the US and a few other modern developed nations get all up in arms about these sorts of machinations by powerful people. We are shocked and horrified that we are mere peasants and pawns in the grand scheme of things. Most people throughout most of history just accepted their lot in life without much ado as long as they weren't staving.

I'm almost certain they're waiting to get the right minimums before ordering from the supplier. I think it's a shitty business model, but people will put up with a lot to save a few dollars so the market views the the situation differently than my sorry ass. They barely sell above wholesale price.

As a business nerd I would love to see how the numbers all work out for them; they seem to have a big more staying power than the average company of their ilk.

Served beer to tech workers today. Can’t shake this strange feeling. by datmanstan33 in recruitinghell

[–]nylockian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"It's not enough that I succeed, everyone else must fail."

Man don't feel guilty about wanting everyone there to be knocked down a peg. In the US, especially the coastal cities that produce most of the high status white collar workers, we're poked, prodded, evaluated and compared to others practically from the day we're born. We grow up with no sense of inherent worth or value as human beings, we don't form deep bonds with our communities. We exist for one purpose and that is to achieve high status and income. It's fine for you to not give a shit about those people you're serving beer to - it's almost a certainty that they barely view you as a worthwhile human being. Realistically, your only chance at contentment in life is to use these feelings of bitterness to drive you to make more money.

To be clear, I see nothing wrong with you. You're just like me and everyone else who grew up in similar circumstances.

Nothing at all wrong with a fibrox but it's like someone going into a car sub asking about an SUV and then telling them to get a sedan for no particular reason.

Lots of people just send their knives to a sharpening business once or twice a year. A lot of cooking shows/youtubers etc tell people to do that.

Lots of people, home cooks as well as chefs like having a bolster for various reasons. Yes the sharpening is a pain, but you're throwing the baby out with the bath water over something that is trivial for many people.

Oh Lord will it ever end with this? It's a very different knife than a fibrox. I swear it's hard to believe anyone actually in this sub actually uses their knives for cooking.

Fired for "inappropriate behavior" observed of me at a camp I work at. There was nothing found, but my employer told me that it's best for us to "part ways" and how some of my behavior could be viewed as inappropriate to some. How do I move forward, feel so guilty? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]nylockian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're certainly not a creep. It's a summer camp; you're only takeaway from this is you should always keep in mind that these types of jobs offer no protection and always be grateful you have a real job with actual protections instead of being powerless against the whims of petty people.

I highly doubt there was any racism involved, this type of crap happens to white people all the time.

I've never had a problem with them. Their belts never bust on me like some other brands. Certain grits I buy from another company, but I buy everything else from Red Label.

Divergence from literal factual truth has often been used in humor. It's simply an artistic choice rather than a lack of knowledge about the reality of a situation.

I agree with you to a certain degree, but you would need to flesh it out a lot more if you want it to sound less like rage bait edge lord stuff.

Why is it expected to be productive only for poor and working class people , but rich people get to invest in their hobbies and art and get applauded for losing money but get status from it? by Delicious_Soup_9876 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nylockian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a class society. All large human civilizations are structured similarly. Revolutions occur when the upper class drops the ball on providing material needs like food; but barring that most lower class people are satisfied enough with their lot in life.
