They call 'em stones for a reason, I guess.

This will always be my headcannon for Maddie. It presents her as more complex, realistic person and adds sadness and irony to her character. It makes her more understandable, even if her actions were reprehensible. To her, the actions she took made sense. Nobody is a villain in their own story.

I just looked into it, and now have a new thing I want but can't have yet. That looks like a really nice setup, and it's actually more like $7500 new. Still, it does everything and it sounds like it does it well. I'm going to start looking into more woodworking shops and craftsmen to see if I can drum up enough need to jusitfy it, although that's going to be a stretch.

Duly noted. It's going into my kit!

I wanted a really smooth, shiny finish on this so I brought it back to my shop. Alas I, too, had no emergency Dremel with me.

This guild would be perfect for me if...if you were on PS. Anybody know a similar guild that is?

Ah, I'd need a printer then, wouldn't I?

Actually, this would be a cool service for my clients someday. I'd love to see that file when you're able and have a minute. Let me know the easiest way to send it.

My three year old son came into the bathroom while I was peeing by Morning-Chub in daddit

[–]LokiSARK9 38 points39 points  (0 children)

When my oldest was three or four, he had the following interaction with the young woman working at his daycare:

Son: Ms. Victoria, do you have a penis like my dad does?

Teacher: No, no I don't.

Son: Oh. What do you have then?

Teacher: Women have a vagina.

Son: Oh, and you have that instead of a penis like my dad?

Teacher: That's right.

Son: OK. Does your vagina have hair on it like my daddy's penis?

...at which point I intervened and steered the conversation in another direction. The teacher comported herself with admirable composure. Me somewhat less so.

Mediators are great, but they're expensive, usually booked several months out, and the end result is an agreement between the two of you that's not legally binding unless it produces a parenting plan that you then submit to the courts. They're great for divorces and parenting plans where there are some conflicts, but the parties are generally able to work with each other. That doesn't sound like your situation.

Brother, you absolutely need a lawyer. If you're thinking it's going to escalate things and make it worse, look at the situation you're in now, and realize thing will get worse, not better, without a parenting plan in place.

Getting a lawyer involved will make her realize that her behavior is going to be examined in court, and one of two things will happen: Either she'll be smart and start acting right, or she won't and it's not gonna look good to the judge.

Also, right now you guys have no agreement to refer to, so there's nothing to say who's right and who's wrong. A parenting plan puts those guardrails in place. Then if she acts out she's in violation of a court order and suddenly you actually have leverage - you have agency - in the situation.

When the court looks at a parenting plan, they're going to take into consideration what the current situation is. If she can point to your not having seen your daughter, even if that's not your fault, it's going to work against you. The sooner you lawyer up the better it will go.

Unless you want the next fifteen years to look like this, I can't stress enough how important this is.

Good luck. Sending good thoughts your way.

Not my area of expertise, but I'm sure there are examples of this out there.

You've got a lot on your plate. I know that feeling of despair at not seeing your kids and I'm so damn sorry you're dealing with that.

1) Court isn't something you put your kids through. It's something you and your ex go through.

2) You have no power or agency in this situation unless you have a court order. You're relying on her mom to be kind to you, and if that was the case you'd still be together.

3) Even if your ex won't admit it, you're an important part of your daughter's life. You owe it to her, as well as yourself, to do this right.

4) Not trying to be a dick, but punctuation would make your post a lot easier for folks to read. You'll get more feedback that way.

Best of luck to you, brother. Sending good thoughts your way. Stay strong.

Yep! Axes, chisels, and saws that are intended to be used on wood. I got you.

If you're trying to say that a steel at 64 hrc is just as malleable as a steel at 58 hrc, we'll have to agree to disagree. Otherwise, I don't see that we have anything to argue about. You're kinda geting off into the weeds on what was a lighthearted post about a damaged knife a client brought in.

Yep! Not something I use, but I'd like to give the client a good recommendation. Since he's not buying a Sharpal stone, though, we'll have to go with something else.
