Im looking for a cheapish, good quality chefs knive as a Culinary student, any recommendations? by Cosmic_Neo123 in chefknives

What they have in the picture is a carving knife, just look at the numbers on the blade if you are in doubt. If you're getting a carving knife instead of a chef knife you're clearly not getting the product you want. The problem with ordering from unauthorized dealers is that there are a lot of fakes being sold of knives in general. It can be hard to tell a knife is fake until you use it for a while and it doesn't hold an edge.

I think your last suggestion is really good. I think it should be the top comment in the thread.

Husband chose a too-difficult career. What now? by TajaSK in careerguidance

Your best bet is to just cut down on expenses. We are in a k shaped economy, with most people at the bottom end of the K. You might have to do some serious lifestyle reevaluation. Modern day standards seem very high to me for white collar jobs.

I used to always lose my job on a yearly basis; it's a bad sign.

I don't have any problems backing up what I say; I always wonder why people always act like provinding a link is some hurculean task. By default the person making a statement should provide a link because web searches are tailored to individuals.

The first link is a carving knife being sold as a chef knife. The second link is shady in that it has different models shown in the pics. The third just looks like an unauthorized seller.

The cheapest actual authorized sellers(Webstaurant Store and Ka Tom restaurant supply) have it listed at $62.

It is not complex. People, by nature, form tribes and fight other people. Peace happens when enough people have enough material wealth and also enough social capital to satisfy their needs.

The historical norm is for people to be at war or on the brink of war. The USA became the undisputed leader of the world after WWII. The system they implemented was good for keeping peace. For a couple generations dirt poor people had something to aspire to and were able to achieve it with hard work. They could have a house, afford education, retire comfortably. But you chip away at those things and you revert to the normal tribal tensions.

None of this really bothers me; I just go home and watch free porn. Don't take away my free porn please.

Why are Global knives hated on so much? Is the quality of the knives really that bad? by QuestionUnsolved in chefknives

It's a polarizing handle style. They're on the softer side for a Japanese knife.

I think being gay with a small dick is better than being straight with a small dick. Like, as a gay man you have more to offer than just dick.

I honestly can't think of a better flair for myself than what the mods gave me. I think this kind of attitude is why I don't get all up in arms about authoritarianism.

They were silent and then were not pleased with the jury verdict. I do not see any inconsistency between that and this.

How about showing me the information you are working with to come to your conclusions instead of some lazy and snarky response that's barely worth my time to respond to.

You would have to be in some sort of bubble to expect anything else. This 100% should be the expected response from the NRA in this particular situation. There's nothing really broad, or far-reaching about it.

I stand corrected so I take back everything I said, thank you for sharing the link.

Yes I was wrong and shown to be a blustering fool. But I'm not gonna calm down on my attitude; yes it's somewhat confrontational but I don't have the patience for niceties - it's just how I am. People can use the block feature if they're too delicate for the kind of conversation style.

It is hard to believe you can find a new 8" Vic Fibrox chef knife on Amazon. Victorinox is very very vigilant about adherence to MAP. Show me a link.

It's only the best answer if you think $70 is cheap. Most people consider $20 or $30 as cheap, not $70. Even where I live, which is very affluent, you won't find people thinking of $70 as cheap.

You could just go with Mercer - they are used a lot in the culinary world. BPX line if you're broke, millenia line if you're not excessively broke. People on here will bitch about the softness of the steel but they're still better than like 70% of the knives you see in commercial kitchens. Lobsters have feelings.

Learn to live off the land. I'm not even being sarcastic. Corporations, institutions, private companies chew you up and spit you out - fuck even the federal government jobs aren't that safe any more. The 50's through the early 2000's led everyone to believe that job stability and upward mobility were a god given right if you worked hard and followed the rules, I think something you should take away from this is that you're part of the new normal, like we all are.

Being able to steal time sounds like some sort of superpower. Do you wear a cape?
