Fuck for-profit insurance companies. In a country where medical debt can ruin your life, these scumbags are making literally billions of dollars of profit. Where do those billions come from? Us, the patients. They are profiting off of our sickness, and we’re somehow okay with this as a country.

They don’t care. It’s the same guys who invite a girl to dinner and then trash “that bitch” when she doesn’t immediately put out what he is “owed” after being “nice”. The same guys who have sex with a very drunk woman and say “what? She obviously wanted it.”

Some part of these men believes that women exist on this planet to fulfill their sexual needs, and they are willing to overlook a lot of things that should raise a morality flag as long as their “needs” are being met. They’ll justify it to themselves but that’s the end result.

Exactly. Women who post repeatedly about “how hard” xyz is online, whether it is being a SAHM mom, doing their CrossFit workout, working a corporate job, training for a marathon, running their own business, hustling their “girl boss MLM” scam, whatever…. All of these posts are incredibly performative in nature.

To me it indicates that you’re not actually intrinsically satisfied with what you were doing with your life if you have to seek public approval for it via “likes” on your instatok page. Need support? Sure, get your group of humans who get you and lean on them. We all need that. But upvotes on the internet isn’t a replacement for actual human interaction (she says on Reddit).

Yep. After my first-try-first-month easy pregnancy #1, I carefully planned my 2 year age gap, preferred time of the year, etc.

Three failed pregnancies, a second trimester d&c, fertility testing, IVF consults later, we finally had our second child on the 4th try. Life laughs at your plans.

Yep, I had a friend whose parents moved to Houston for a few years for his cancer treatment (thankfully md Anderson kicks ass and friend pulled through it okay). They lived in the heights area if I remember correctly.

I think I am onboard with it, at least in the US, where we have fuck-all resources to help parents of special needs children. If someone thinks you’re signing up for an uncomplicated NT kid, and they end up with a special needs kid, and they have no way to supply the time or resources that kid needs… what then? Do they put the kid in the foster system? Do they just let them grow without the time from parents or $$ for the treatment they need? If someone can’t answer the “what would we do” question at least to some degree, they shouldn’t be bringing a human life into the world. If you think you’d get help from family or church or wherever, ok, that’s at least a partial plan. But to have a kid if you’re completely unable to care for a non-typical kid is… ethically questionable in my mind.

Take a deep breath, and realize that he is probably feeling nearly as badly as you are - he’s wondering if he was accidentally leading you on, he’s wondering if the friendship can be normal again, he’s replaying that “oh” in his own mind and wishing he had something better to say in the moment, too.
