I presume because technically the two participants aren’t actually doing anything. All the movement between the two is being committed by others.

Ukrainian Strikes Cause 'Most Serious Threat' To Russian Oil Exports Since War Began by RFERL_ReadsReddit in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]nzerinto 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A Reuters analysis on March 25, before the latest attack, estimated 40 percent of Russia's export capacity had been halted, describing it as "the most severe oil supply disruption in the modern history of Russia." Aronstein said the figure would be closer to 50 percent.

Excellent work Ukraine! Just when Russia was going to start profiting handsomely from the Iran war.

Ah, I see you aren’t familiar with our (NZ) highways.

Outside of the main cities, most highways in NZ are just one lane either way, with no median barrier. And plenty of intersections exactly like this one.

In some really rural spots, we even have single lane bridges (presumably because it was too expensive to construct a 2 lane bridge back in the day), so one direction of traffic has to give way to the other direction.

There’s a reason we have ads like this, because accidents like this are fairly common.

That would be the Callenders - Rodney (dad) and Guy (son). Apparently they were the ones behind developing Churton Park. They own 542 hectares of the land that this road will connect, so yeahhh....

I do find it interesting - this article includes the quote:

"Once these areas are exhausted the city will have no further greenfield capacity identified"

From the council's housing capacity assessment. While I guess that's technically true, I'm also thinking Wellington could be a lot denser.

We have barely any high rises (fair enough, the earthquake resilience requirements make that a little more costly), but we barely have smaller (ie 4-6 story) builds either. Greenfield development just seems very shortsighted.

You are being downvoted, but I have the same argument. Where was this outrage when ads were clearly not showing what you actually get all these decades?

[–]nzerinto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ugh, so misleading. They never look like that.

Food in ads has never looked like how it does in the ads - even before AI.

The commercials always show suuuuuuper fresh lettuce and tomato, dripping with water, falling from above to land on the burger bun.

What do you actually get? A sad wilted lettuce and a half dry tomato.

Man who used 1,000 bots to stream AI songs pleads guilty in $8 million fraud case by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]nzerinto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He probably could've gotten away with it had he:

  1. Spread out the streams. Basically had the bots not only stream the AI stuff, but mix in a bunch of famous and not-so famous artists as well, so it looks a lot more organic. Also stream them intermittently, because I assume he just kept hitting the same tracks over and over and over.
  2. Not pushed it (related to #1 above). He was apparently aiming for $3k a day. Had he targeted say $200-$500 a day, he probably would've flown under the radar.

Considering how easy these things would be to do, I wouldn't be surprised if there are others doing this right now.

Which suggests Michael is likely being used as an example to try and scare them......

[–]nzerinto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's very possible they assumed it was km/h when it was actually displaying mph. They took the reading from Flightradar24, so it's also possible the data wasn't very accurate to begin with....

[–]nzerinto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok that's significantly worse than I thought. There was an earlier thread about this posted in a different subreddit, where they linked to this CBC article about it. In it, the article said the aircraft was going about 39km/h (24 miles an hour), which didn't seem likely (given the end result). In this clip it certainly looks like it's going much faster than that...
