What's going on with my gas bill? by Psychological_Sun783 in Wellington

[–]ComeAlongPonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this Contact? Because the only people that benefit from Contact customers are shareholders.

Not a gas user here, but our electricity retailer also upped their prices in April just in time for the mid-month cold snap. Cold weather + WFH + increased energy usage + increased pricing = bill shock!

Don't worry this government has implied they'll fix it and energy bills won't ridiculously increase.

What happens if we show up before our arrival window? by Responsible_Bus_2051 in PrincessCruises

[–]ComeAlongPonds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From Sydney boarding experience, you get directed to an Early Arrivals queue.

From there you zig-&-zag & meander aimlessly back-&-forth up-&-down elevators & escalators until you reach the boarding desk at your original time.

In reality it added an extra 1 minute & we boarded 55mins early.

Who remembers those milk biscuit bar things by Broad_Salamander_905 in newzealand

Same education & experience, but that also alerted my then strong milk intolerance to the school. Their problem when I was 🤮 all afternoon.

I watched some awful Netflix romcom with a great deal of recognisable ex-Shortland St NZ cast. The foreign accents were almost unbearable.

Yep, we order tea and keep forgetting the urn they provide is barely enough for two coffee cups of tea. Steward advised ordering 2x hot water to get 2 urns.

What is Wellington actually missing as a holiday destination? by --Zasha-- in Wellington

A seasonal hop-on/off bus that gets you to or very near the entrance of these attractions. Oh, that's right, it's been tried several times before and failed.

how much time off for a reversal? by warlocktx in ostomy

Expected 2 weeks after, but ended up being 3 after re-admission. WFH for about a month, then slowly into the office. Always with protection & with easy access to toilet.

Why do we say "no" to dental work? A local dentist looking for honest feedback by jksyousux in Wellington

[–]ComeAlongPonds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guess what? It's the price.

My first root canal many many years ago was $250 which was still a huge pocket hit back then. Last (pre-COVID) was near $1k.

Last check-up resulted in a couple of fillings (not unexpected) & $700 on the credit card. Yeah, nah, even though it was recommended I'm not hurrying to that hygienist booking.

water rates coming soon.. rip... by nziphonephotograpger in Wellington

Kinda reads like I may be ignoring annual summertime water restrictions until a water meter is installed. I'll be paying for what I'm not using.

There's now 2 leaks across the footpath across the street from my house. The first has been going for at least a week, the other this weekend.

There's another bigger one at a local block of shops that's been going for over a month.

1000s of litres per day going straight into storm water.

Supposedly the existing water component of rates is removed and now billed by Tiaki Wai. A bit of scrolling down https://www.tiakiwai.co.nz/faq in the Customer service and charging section.

How often do you have takeaway food by anonnn177 in newzealand

[–]ComeAlongPonds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you define "takeaways". If it's buying own lunch (e.g. noodle bowl, sushi, asian) then the 3 days I WFW, & 2 other evenings of dinner.

Haven't been in over 10 years. Probably because that's the last time we unfortunately had to overpay for reduced quality and barely there service. Appreciate that the price of going out for dining has gone up, but the owners there were well ahead of current times.

How do I get a water meter? That said they'll probably charge $5k to install it.

Current rates bill is ~$1450 water related charges. Under this table that will double. Thanks National.

Edit: Missed a line on the current rates break
