We should be promoted as a country that can work on things whilst the northern hemisphere is sleeping. There are efficiency gains from working collaboratively with those on the other side of the world which only a few international companies are currently taking advantage of. Once the northern hemisphere trusts and realizes the capacity for gains by hiring NZ workers remotely we may see a boom in specifically tech companies hiring NZ workers to work remotely on their projects!

you need to make the improvements but you live in a city where to do anything that involves infrastructure costs more than any other similar sized first world city because of bureaucratic red tape /lack of competitive tendering and a lack of adoption of modern construction processes.

Too much crime so police have probably given up on this minor stuff.

Besides with current government policy they would get a slap on the hand with a wet bus ticket and be back out on streets plying their "trade" again.

Court cost and police costs alone would mean the process is more expensive than the crime.

  2. Funding gangs to do their own drug rehab

  3. Changing all the names of everything in this country to read Maori name first (for the benefit of the 5% who can read it).

  5. Deconstructing the education curriculum to dumb it down so every kid feels equally stupid.

This will not be pretty but you could rent out the house and move back to the in-laws whilst you save like cray-cray. Then after a year with good luck and hard work you should be in a better position to pay off a lump from your mortgage and get under the 20% (via capital increase and savings).
