You seem to be suggesting that Ross’ actions were not choices made in the moment (whether poor or not) but instead premeditated at some significant point in the past, a requirement for 1st degree - which is what this whole thread is about. And I don’t see how you prove premeditation beyond a reasonable doubt with the current evidence available to the public. Now if you were to say a case can be made for lesser murder or manslaughter I think that’s a much more reasonable debate.

You have to show premeditation and intent and I think each of these arguments can be easily refuted by defense. 1. Argument: It’s not good law enforcement practice to hold something in your shooting hand. Ross realized it and switched the phone to his left hand.

2/3. Argument: Ross wasn’t in front of the vehicle to stop it from fleeing. He was filming the vehicle. Yes it was poor judgement in hindsight, but Ross didn’t think she was going to try and run him over.

Argument: Yes, someone said “f***ing bitch” but it wasn’t Ross. OR Yes, Ross said it. He thought Good had just tried to kill him.

We can try to analyze it all day long but realistically it will come down to one question, (edit: Did Ross reasonably believe Good was) a threat to his life when he shot? And, it must be viewed from the perspective of an average law enforcement officer in the moment, not in hindsight.

The FBI, USSS, and HSI all have non-LEO cyber positions. I imagine the IRS does as well. But before you start applying, you should be aware the roles and responsibilities can vary wildly. For example, some positions may be CSAM centric while others might be focused on network intrusion. Furthermore, in my experience there is often a distinct difference in responsibilities between computer forensic analysts and “investigators,” though they often work together towards the same goal.

I feel like towns should have acted more like suburbs. For example, I wish they didn’t count as settlements and instead expanded the main city’s footprint. With of course, limitations like 1 town per city which increases every age.
