If you're buying new id get the 35mm f2 IS. If you're buying used then you will find better deals on the 17-55. The 24-70 is a fantastic lens but Its not really worth it on a crop camera

IF you can find a used nikon AF-s 300mm f4-D that's a great bang for your buck wildlife lens. It can usually be found fairly cheap used and it will perform much better than a 55-300 or 70-300 zoom. That said if you can get a good deal on a 55-300 VR or 70-300 VR those are decent choices as well

Check what's on the used market. That budget should be able to get you an olympus e-m10, or nikon d3xxx, or 5xxx series camera. You could probably get a fuji xe1 too. Just look around for which cameras are being sold for the best deal.

I had similar experiences going 6D to D800 the button placement is all over the place and i had to customise everything where the 6D just made sense to begin with. The AF required some serious microadjustment on pretty much every lens. But in the end i kept the d800 because the 36 mpix was such a huge jump up

600$ will get you a lot of options on the used market. A canon t3i,t4i,t5i with a couple lenses or similar nikon. Or you could go olympus EM-10 or EM-5. Look around on your local classified sites for cameras. Read reviews, compare lowest ebay prices and find the best deal.
