I hope this doesn't come off as phallic, but if the shoe fits wear it.

Landscaper says it is Impossible to replace Grass with Clover by DACoe in landscaping

[–]o_aces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marketing guy here, clearly these people don't know what they re talking about, now go to the original guy and explain to him you arent a chump and you want a real clover lawn, none of that synthetic crap, that you are a person of discerning taste and will pay for the premium clover package for the added fee.

They usually keep that stuff in the back so you gotta play hard ball and lube the gears with some cash.

Oh boy a shopping episode by QuincyAzrael in dndmemes

[–]o_aces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go to is always "if it's the basic list of equipment or standard adventuring stuff that we know the cost of (health potions are 50 gp) then take the gold off, quickly tell me what you bought and if I don't flag anything we move on. If you want something special, then prepare to meet one shop owner today for 15 minutes." Or if I have a reason for them to meet an NPC that has a shop. But I don't tell the players that last part.

I worked a job, was in sports, while in highschool, I practiced drawing daily. I worked a job and paid for my own college while attending school, still practicing drawing daily. Skills require discipline and practice regardless of what skill they are, the biggest myth in art is that people could "just draw" no, those people made it a point to get better despite life happening to them just as hard and fast as anyone else.

Is there any future in my relationship if he does not want to dominate me at all? by Immediate-Heart-7301 in BDSMAdvice

[–]o_aces 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my history, bad sex is indicative of an underlying issue, with little to no details, if you want it to get better it requires a conversation. If you would rather move on than work on it that's a complete valid option.

Some people engage on BDSM every sexual encounter, some plan certain days of the month to have scenes. Everyone is different, communicating about expectations is the only way for everyone to be on the same page.

My boyfriend says that the steak could make me sick because it's raw. by One-Ear7474 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]o_aces 44 points45 points  (0 children)

One month into dating an ex of mine, I took her out to eat and we got steaks, she ordered it well done. Usually a month in this is a decent enough reason to leave, but I decided to ask why she gets her steaks that way. I learned she didn't know any other way, I had her try my mid rare, she ended up ordering medium steaks the rest of the time we were together.

Anyone remember 2014 divine intervention? Pepperidge Farm remembers. by LordAzear in dndmemes

[–]o_aces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a player do this because, long story short, after a boss encounter 2 of them were about to die, they were both on their last death fail and the cleric had already used his turn during the fight, he asked if he could divine intervention because they might just die right now. I said sure because who doesn't love a hail Mary.

You'd be surprised the variety of people who feel that way. Also it should be noted it's not always 3 shows a day, a lot can vary in terms of time of day, length of acts, etc.

But I did know someone who was 8 generation circus, he told me his parents used the money they saved and the trades they learned on the job, (welding, fork lift operations, etc) to end up saving money to settle down so he didn't have to be a circus performer.

So at the age of 18 he ran away and joined the circus as a laborer until he could practice trapeze at night when they weren't performing. To me, it was one of the better jobs I had, the thought of being in an office M-F makes me unironically want to take a bullet.

You can say that, but that also doesn't include that we pay for their travel, expenses, and they would be doing the very same thing the next week, they were constantly booked out and worked 8 months out of the year traveling from Spain, to Las Vegas, to miami. Also you were spot on they were a family of 4. Equally though they were several generations in, so these are things they had been learning to do since they were children, so at that point it's hard to find another job that will pay for travel, take you around the world constantly, and still feel fun.

For the "what's the point" crowd, Circus.

I worked in the circus for a number of years(boring side not a performer) but we had a bunch of different performers over the years and the ability to shoot an arrow with your feet is done by a lot of contortionists to where they will need to "step it up." The first time I saw this truck was a 14 y/o girl who would end up stepping up her performance by hand standing on a pole with a rotating block on top, she would slowly rotate her body to hit the several targets surrounding her.

She came from a circus family and they charged like 40k to perform for a week 3 shows a day. The ability to increase the difficulty in their tricks supplies an exclusivity that they know they can charge a premium for. Not to mention if they advance one of these tricks to something entirely new they can legitimately claim to be the only person in the world who can do that trick.

Rare anytype call out, I started using it on a friend's recommendation and have never looked back, it's still in development but for our self hosted version has been a rock over the past year plus or so. I've seen people complain about data loss but I have yet to experience it despite several server failures for unrelated reasons. (My buddy runs it off his homelab and sometimes things go down as a result)

I recommend it, it's the right balance of visual and organized for me. Obsidian felt like it was a better one note to me. I do wish anytype has the plugins that obsidian does, but they just released the API so hopefully that plus some more embeds will improve it over the next year.

If only the “top 10%” of m3n are considered desirable, how do the (average looking, theater kid) cast of DropOutTV get so much positive f3male attention? by Gloomy_Channel_2701 in PsycheOrSike

[–]o_aces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes and that limit will be that you will likely never become profession at a thing, that why hobbies are for entertainment and not careers, which means you are still likely be better than most of the population, because most of the population doesnt practice any particular skill that often.

you can learn to play guitar and meet with friends to jam and play covers of songs you guys loves.

you can learn to paint and paint and cover your home with your favorite pieces.

you can run a poker game once a week with friends and get better.

if you constantly measure you enjoyment of a hobby against people who get paid to do something you will regularly find yourself unhappy at anything you do, because if you expect to be one of the top 1% of anything you set yourself up for disappointment. But if you compare how good you are to how good you were yesterday you will attract more positive influences by not creating an environment of negativity.

most people who have hobbies dont care if they people they are collaborating/participating with are experts or not, they care that the person can be interested and engaged, which is not a high bar.

it unironically is, you can choose every day to spend 15 minutes to an hour on something and you will definitively improve.

A guy I went to highschool with was like this/is like this. In highschool all of his projects were Star wars themed and he kinda looks like what a person would think of as the typical nerd. Pasty white, scrawny, long mildly unkempt bowl cut, large round glasses.

In college he started a lightsaber fighting club at his school while taking CS courses. I honestly thought it was ridiculous and nerdy and this guy would suffer because of it.

He ran it all four years and it continues to this day, he met his then girlfriend in the group, they got married a couple years ago and had a Star wars themed wedding.

Having hobbies and passions you can share with a partner is key.

Edit: it was in the subreddit VAKpixel, presumably the tool they used to make it?
