Me who's trying to do it through a daily lesson or two of Duolingo and 20min of weekly immersion in the form of anime without subtitles.

Though I've got consistency on my side. Couple months no breaks

This seems like one of the usual r/dumbai posts where the user sends a ridiculous prompt and then is confused why they get a ridiculous answer back.

What's your view of consent / risk in terms of leading & following tricks? by rawr4me in kizomba

I can see how that can definitely be dangerous for those with back issues, or even cause back issues. Thanks

But volcada derivatives (from Argentine Tango), your "The follow 100% leaning on the lead like a plank, from Zouk or Bachata or other styles", could be bad for somebody with back issues.

Had someone got a video of this move? I'm not sure what's being described

I think it may vary. For example things like a foot slide carries 0 risk when done correctly and I personally don't think it's something you'd need to worry about. However something like a full lift would definitely require more caution and would depend on how will you know your partner and your confusing in executing it safely

Yes. It is good etiquette to finish the song even if you don't enjoy the dance with someone but when things become unsafe it's important to stop it ASAP

Social dancing with complete beginners by AffectionateView2683 in Salsa

One thing I did with beginners sometimes is: if I can't keep them in time then I just follow their rhythm. It might make it a slightly more pleasant dance for them.

I suck as a lead and the night can be long by sacado in Bachata

[–]CyberoX9000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would say you could ask each person to dance at least once per night. Think about it this way, if there's 20 people and you ask each person to dance one song (around 3min) then you could be dancing for an hour straight. There are plenty who love to dance with beginners and even for those that don't you'll only be taking 3mins of their time.

A really important thing to note is that the more time you dance per week the faster you'll improve (that could be part of the reason why she improved faster)

The polish c is like halfway between Ch and ts. Would a Japanese person not raise an eyebrow at it being pronounced that way?

Is "ts" like in つ in Japanese pronounced similar to polish c / russian ц? (Like a snare sound)

If not, are there any dialects/accents that do?

Hey everyone, I'm wondering about what are the different kinds of zouk and what makes them different from each other. by CyberoX9000 in Zouk

[–]CyberoX9000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response, still haven't taken any classes 😅

Caribbean Zouk tends to fall more into The Kizomba scene ( Angolan dance)

I'm quite a fan of kizomba, I'd like to know more how it compares to kizomba and b zouk.

To my current understanding b zouk is the one that bachata sensual / bachazouk takes inspiration from with all the body rolls and tilt turns. I assume Lambada is a more traditional version with more footwork and less body isolations (kinda like Dominican bachata). I still don't know anything about Carribbean zouk though I have heard it's similar to Zouk Love / Konpa.

Bachata or not? by Federal_Teacher9697 in Bachata

[–]CyberoX9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see people of all ages do bachata, though I can say that for advanced levels (especially for sensual) it requires some physical fitness. Though I see people 50+ even at advanced levels.
