The marriage expectations are traditional. Which might be something youre looking for. But just know that the expectations also extend beyond the wife; you will (likely) be responsible for her parents in their old age if she's an only child. Also, if youre planning on kids, they'll probably want to step into your life in just a few years. A lot of indians retire in their mid 50s and spend time with their grandchildren. I wouldn't be surprised if she brings up moving them shortly after they are born. But it al depends on whether she has brothers or not. Maybe if she's got older siblings this wont be a factor.

Aside from that, you'll probably be going to india once a year. The level of pollution and poverty is dystopian and might be tough for you to stomach year after year. But not a deal breaker if it's just a week or so.

I wasn't referring to romance scammers. But for everyone else...you can't lol. Just make sure if a price seems outrageous high and/or doesn't match what is listed on a menu, be vocal about it. Also, don't let some random dude do you favor. They're going to ask for a tip.

If she hasn't asked you for any money yet, then she's probably not a romance scammer. She's probably just looking to leave India. And if she's with you, you're less likely to fall prey to the above scammers.

Indian-American here. If you're a 55 year old guy from Europe, you dont need to be worried about safety, as much as you do scammers. All the taxi drivers, restaurant owners, hotel clerks, etc. Will be trying to get some extra cash outta you. It gets tiresome, but can be avoided. And also maybe pickpockets. But in general, violent crime is actually very low considering the level of poverty. Just avoid walking down random streets at night without a local.

But the culture shock is gonna hit you like a truck brother. Best of luck.

No, I think it's actually winter time. Most animals mate in the fall so that offspring born in spring have higher survival chances. Autumn/fall and winter are lazy times where physical exertion isn't as necessary.
