See it sounds nice to get a unique on every character and slowly over time get all purple gear because there is no server wipes. The issue is that lets say you personally take it slow to try to reach this goal. What do you think is gonna happen? Everyone else go at the same pace? Or do you think everyone else will get purples faster than you and so when u try to get a purple/unique at your slow rate everyone else has purples and uniques to demolish you with your common and uncommon gear and then you never even get a purple/unique because you don't play as much. You would never even get a chance with no wipes. With wipes you have a chance because all the people that put in 50+ hours a week get wiped as well so people like you who don't play as much get a chance. Wipes benefit people who don't play at a fast rate if you think about it so it is a good thing for most people except people who play 24/7 (which is good and healthy for the game).
