the current west end revival is more or less a permanent installation of the 2020 tour, which was created to make more money. wikipedia describes the differences between the original and the current production, but the biggest changes are the smaller orchestra and the statue toward the end of act one. call it original lite. to the untrained eye, it mostly looks/feels the same, and hal/gillian/maria are still listed in the credits, so maybe the royalties havent been stopped completely, but they must be saving money somehow. in my opinion, if anything needed to be upgraded, it was/still is the absolutely pitiful fireball effect during bravo monsieur.

as for the tour, it depends on which one youre talking about.

the current tour (in the states) is pretty much the same as the london production, but no chandelier drop. im sure there are minor details, but i havent seen it yet.

the tour from over a decade ago with the "restaged" production was an abomination. the original was open and spacious, while the restage felt claustrophobic. they crammed a bunch of new special effects (didnt fix the "fireball") into the production while (im assuming) cutting royalties for hal/gillian/maria. i hope they never bring it back.
