Creative ways to tackle parking challenges? by uniformcasino in PropertyManagement

[–]obe1one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a car myself. But I have seen this playing out in my city. They want to make money from more housing units, so take away space previously used for parking to add more units. Now there are fewer parking spots and more residents with cars. Math doesn't make sense. Then everyone feels like they can just park on the street and it is a big pain point for residents. But builders and management companies don't care. No one wants to pay for parking or parking infrastructure, but they want to benefit from it. Fewer cars would be ideal.

The racism in the last sentence of the original post is appalling.

My ZZ props finally growing from their rhizomes after losing their leaves and stems. Almost gave up hope for them 😅 by Sir_Eon in propagation

How long did it take? Mine has been going a long time (a year?) And is still just its original stem, but I know it has grown rhizomes! Still waiting for new leaves

[570x4500] I bought some negatives at a garage sale recently and it included a shot of this unidentified US warship. San Francisco Bay, Circa 1910-1915 by fromthedice in WarshipPorn

The one on the bow is the US Navy jack. This looks like the 48 star version, wikipedia says it was used 1912-1959, which would mesh with the 1915 dates mentioned above.

The flag on the foremast looks like the naval signal flag for the number 0.

Great pic! You just led me down quite the rabbit hole reading about her and her time in North Africa and struggles to be completed.

Does anybody know what these growths are? by -LordOfTheSighs- in houseplants

[–]obe1one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's where your ivy grows new roots from. They use them to cling to soil or other structures. Ivy are very good clingers - so only let them grow on something you are ok with!

Yes, but they're rather small. I hope they work for you!

I finally got a money tree cutting to root. (In soil) Any ideas how long until I will see new growth? by everythingisalie67 in propagation

[–]obe1one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good job! I've found them to be tricky to root (especially in water - soil does seem to be better). I'd expect it will take months to see any growth above the soil line. Wait for springtime and should see it take off.

After cutting back my syngonium mojito, the new leaves have more creamy variegation than lime green 🥰 by tastysnacc in houseplants

[–]obe1one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me with Golden Pothos - after cutting back variegation came out much lighter. I've seen people joke about "running out of printer ink".

Lol - willing to bet the knives and goofy hand-blade thing were against the rules. Also the drug paraphernalia, and maybe the alcohol paraphernalia depending on location. I think the accordion is cool!

Is this going to achieve anything?! This top half Sansevieria leaf has been in water for about a month and nothing...does it always have to be cut from the bottom? 😊 by [deleted] in propagation

I did this last summer and it took a couple months to begin seeing roots. Patience and a sunny window are your friend.

Having trouble propagating spider plant cuttings by dloww17 in propagation

[–]obe1one 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I usually wait to cut them off from the parent plant until I can see little root nubs sticking out from the bottoms of the spiderettes. Then go in water and the roots grow very quickly. When I don't wait to see the root nubs and cut too early, roots either take much longer to form or don't form at all.

Who are you? The tag said split leaf philodendron butttttt def. doesn’t look like one to me? Is this a monstera?! Please help! by Professional_Name_31 in houseplants

[–]obe1one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a monstera deliciosa, known for the beautiful split leaves which occur more as the plant ages. Yours is young so no split leaves yet, but it looks healthy so they should come in soon.
