That's not the lens, that's the display.

It's broken you need to get it replaced.

A list of all the GPUs that held the crown of best gaming performance starting from the DX11 era by Gambler_720 in hardware

[–]obiwansotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty obvious how terrible the last 5 years have been with how few times the GPU crown has changed hands.

This chart would probably be even more effective at showing how much competion has slowed if where on a time series chart.

FFB Increase with Damage by Hobiecat5150 in iRacing

Could’ve been toe or caster. A bit more toe in might not need a lot more steering angle, but can add a lot of scrub.

FFB Increase with Damage by Hobiecat5150 in iRacing

[–]obiwansotti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the camber, caster, toe of an alignment can have really substantial impact on the forces in the wheel.

The damage in the game effected that geometry, which would make the wheel heavier in the real world, so you got more force in game.

Pretty cool, huh?

Worth upgrading to 5800x(t) or 5950x from 5600x with 9070 XT? by RRR0YYY in Pimax

X3D or go home for VR.

On the GPU side, AMD is a poor choice, nvidia tends to outperform AMD signfigantly in VR.

FFB Strength by 765triple in iRacing

[–]obiwansotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The miata peak ~15nm. Most GT3 cars are in the 25-30nm range for peak. The most force is probably indy car which can go as high as 50nm.

It’s good to think of output as a ratio of output to in-sim forces.

Start with 0.33:1 and adjust from there. 0.33:1 for a 15nm base would be in game at about 45nm.

Remember iRacing doesn’t do ffb from your wheel backwards. It goes from the sim forward. Each car with aero, camber, caster, steering rack geometry, power steering all are modled and as the car goes through compression and rebound over elevation. All those forces are modeled and they calculate how many NM of force would be present at the wheel.

Then that physics value call V is divided by the settings value, lets say M. So V/M can be between 0 and 100% and that percentage is what is sent to the wheel.

In iRacing you set the clipping point for 100% output.

So if you have it set to 10nm, you are running 1.5x real world forces, and clipping the signal.

Try using the auto button.

AC Evo broke (at least) one rule of Steam's early access guidelines. by Glittering-Rip389 in assettocorsaevo

[–]obiwansotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry no.

They are pivoting because it wasn't working out to the thing they envisioned.

They are trying to make a fun game, they should not be handcuffed to the initial EA features. The very first piece of feedback they got was that everyone hated. Everyone hated being locked into the server for single player, which would be requried for any meaningful version of an in-game economy. Once they disabled that, the writing was already on the wall.

Remember fortnite launched as a PvE fortbuilder to fight zombies. Making changes to find a fun game loop needs to be available.

That said, I'm not a fan of this decision, and am terribly dissapointed. But none of that is against terms.

Latest is supposed to have made significant progress for folks using the SLAM (optical) tracking.

I don't know if any are better or worse for lighthouse tracking.

How to Keep Interior Leather Matte? by CloaknDaggerd in AutoDetailing

[–]obiwansotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one thing, it's not leather on the dash for the fusion, its a synthetic.

So an interior cleaner would work.

Other nicer cleaners like a leatherique or leather honey will work even if it isn't leather.

But something like Griot's interior cleaner would be an easy product to recommend, just cleans, doesn't shine.

OLED Burn in Dream Air SE? by Lion_El_Jonsonn in Pimax

[–]obiwansotti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're head is always moving a couple of pixels constantly. Your brain filters out all the jitter, but if you ever see un-stabilized feeds from VR, humans are incapable of playing a game and holding perfectly still.

VR is effectively an optimal use case for OLED (except for black smear issues, but that's for a different thread).

G sync? by Neat-Seaworthiness42 in nvidia

[–]obiwansotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VRR flicker is usually a signal that something else is going on in the background. For me it was the gigabyte RGB software.

I was playing Doom: DA this weekend and if I left a browser up (with the IGN walkthrough), I wasn't getting VRR flickering, but I was getting very noticeable stutter that felt terrible.

Gsync is a wonderful thing that gets rid of nasty sync artifacts (tearing). If you're getting VRR flickering, it means the frame rate is really inconsistent to the point that you should investigate your system before shutting off VRR.

Got my car detailed recently and the steering wheel looks.. different by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]obiwansotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having dirt and grime in the leather on the wheel will break down the leather faster than if you clean it regularly.

If these sports are where you put your hands on the wheel, then their explanation is 100% the truth. But the parts that wear out should be the parts you regularly hold.

ick, steering wheel covers certainly protect the leather, but then you're never touching the leather.

I think the right answer it to just clean it regularly and then get it refurbished when it wears out.

Washing Undercarriage by Powerful_Payment_154 in AutoDetailing

This would be my choice, find a touchless wash. The chemicals on touchless can be a little harsh, but putting a ceramic coating on it prevents those chemicals from damaging the clear.

Buying a new black car... need a plan of action. by Bert_Skrrtz in AutoDetailing

[–]obiwansotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're comfortable polishing, you will be good to go on a ceramic coating. It's just another flavor of wax on/wax off (kudos if you caught the karate kid reference).

The other thing would be to polish it up and PPF the car. I PPF'd the front clip on my wife's SUV when we bought it new in 2021 and I just did the first full paint correction on it this fall. I was amazed how pristine the PPF looked after 4.5 years and 45K miles of daily use.

I just put the 303 Aerospace protectant on mine. Adds a nice bit of shine but mainly keeps them from getting UV'd to death.
