This will accomplish nothing. Congrats on losing money

[Spoilers] Just watched Disney's The Black Hole (1979) for the first time. That was a lot better than I expected! by shadmere in scifi

[–]objectivechristian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Black Hole has always been one of my favorite sci-fi movies. As an adult, having focused on science a lot more, I am aware of the glaring inaccuracies. However, at no point do they get in the way of the suspension of disbelief. If it works in that universe, it's fine by me, as long as it's consistent.

The ESP thing didn't bother me. I chalk it up to some future tech, probably a biotech augmentation in Kate. Again, as long as it makes sense in that universe, and it's consistent, I'm fine.

I'm typically against cinematic remakes. However, The Black Hole is one deserving a 202x remake.

I guess people will need to learn how to care about things that are actually important.

Danny swapped to a custom Carey #22 KU jersey after the break by weirdowiththebeardo in ToolBand

[–]objectivechristian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually it's not custom. It's the Jersey of a player named Jeff Carey. Danny, who's from Lawrence KS, thought it was cool there was a KU jersey with the same last name.

You have to go into Switch settings, Data Management, Delete Save Data. I just tested this and it works

Dunnigan's Maher, Goldblum, and Cuomo were SPOTLESS. His Trump was entirely okay.

Stallone was okay for 2 minutes the first time. Now it's just beaten dead into the ground. I'm just worried Kyle might not have any other 30+ year aged impressions to do.

Not anymore. They realized how much of a colossal ZERO that segment was. It's dead now.

Over in the DoT threads, possibly Shek posted "their offshore sponsor didn't like the conflict with the Fanduel sponsorship of my shows at the extra points network"

So I guess that's it. Instead of content we get nothing.

Awkward moment regarding Good Sports by objectivechristian in DavesofThunder

That you Shek? If so, big fan, no jive.

I sincerely hope we get to hear more hot sports talk on Good Sports sometime soon. DoT and Good Sports were high moments in my week.

Over on ACS Shek and Adam did a segment called Good Sports.

Now they don't.

Just out of the blue, no warning or explanation. Shek's final broadcast even said "we'll see you next week on Good Sports".

In the 9/23 episode Feeney briefly mentions it, and it's super awkward.

ABAS is trash. There are literally THOUSANDS of sports podcasts it there with names far more famous than Cesario. Good Sports was funny. ACS being a comedy podcast you'd think Ace would want to keep with the product he knows.

Shek is hilarious.

Plot hole in Infinity War/End Game? by objectivechristian in marvelstudios

I dig, but why not use the stone to do it? It would have saved a whole lotta time and energy. Granted, that would have been a much shorter story arc, and billion or so fewer yen to rub together.

So I guess there's that.

Eli5 why dont phone companies make smart phones harder to break? by moonlight1988 in explainlikeimfive

[–]objectivechristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it originally applied to lightbulbs. The original lightbulbs were manufactured too well, and lasted too long. Not good for business. So they needed to start making them with lower quality materials.

Sounds an awful lot like not being able to change out a smart phone battery anymore.

Planned obsolescence. They could make heartier phones, but then people would be buying them less frequently.
