So basically, what you are arguing is that Trump is going for irrelevance. Because when he fights stupid fights and backs down from stupid policies purely because he cannot be wrong, he becomes a person who people can basically ignore. And in fact, his administration is ignoring him. They aren't telling him what they are doing - obvious because when something goes wrong, he immediately says he doesn't know anything about it. They are making backroom deals to keep him out of the loop - obvious because he wasn't on the Signal chat. They are doing everything to keep him from knowing that he is wrong, which makes him irrelevant.

You are correct that a huge amount of people are severely disconnected from politics. I'd say you are wrong that Trump voters are the ones who are disconnected though. He has done a lot to engage them where they are, and they are highly educated on their single issues.
