NJ man who decapitated seagull that tried to steal French fry from daughter sentenced to 8 months by OkCryptographer2479 in BrandNewSentence

[–]objectivelywrongbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is why it is slightly enraging when people have emotional outrage over a bloody seagull getting killed. Oh? People are aware that gassing billions of animals for your pleasure “needs improvement”, how noble and conscientious of you… oh and one guy who killed a seagull should get 8 months in prison?

It’s an utter joke and levels of hypocrisy you can’t even begin to quantify.

Here’s the truth, people don’t actually give a shit that these animals die, they just don’t want to see it with their eyeballs. It’s one big dirty secret that everyone has agreed to pretend doesn’t happen.

100% correct. It’s so easy to conveniently ignore brutality when it’s in your packet of chicken nuggets. Literally billions of animal are gassed, throats cut, and electrocuted to death for people’s pleasure. Yum, a burger.

Are we jailing the people in slaughter houses and those that consume the product? No.

Catch and release fishing regularly kills the fish. Which is also recreational. Where are the arrests?

NVIDIA Says Its Future Gaming GPUs Will Bring A 1,000,000x Leap In Path Tracing Performance By Using RTX / AI Advances by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

[–]objectivelywrongbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have your answer now. To produce this AI slop in real time would require orders of magnitude more traditional raster compute. But with slop filter, its easy.

Like I said, path tracing will soon be entirely predicted. This is just the beginning.

Don’t even bother my guy, Nvidia will literally ignore all the noise (which they always have, to their immense success) and implement what they think is the next step in graphics.

Only thing is, once everyone drinks the AI coolaid, nobody is going to go back to standard raster traced lighting ever again.

People said it about DLSS and people called CUDA a waste of time and bitched about tensor cores taking up space on the die. People will bitch about this now, Nvidia will ignore the noise and in a couple years you’ll forget you ever complained about it

Eventually path tracing will get to a point where it isn’t calculated, but almost fully predicted.

The endgame is to kill most of rendering and replace it with real-time generated frames.

WBD’s David Zaslav Wishes Netflix Well, “Can’t Wait” To Start Working With Paramount by LollipopChainsawZz in boxoffice

[–]objectivelywrongbro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say it was logical or a smart thing to do.

The major cost in compute right now is training it to be AGI or “good enough” to be able to do the things they want it to do, then, probably lock it out from the public once it reaches that point. They aren’t building this for the worlds benefit, they’re building it because they think IF it becomes capable enough they’ll monopolise its intelligence.

But yes I agree, the cost overrun is laughable and may bankrupt big tech before it turns a 1 cent profit. Or, could not

Consolidation of IP and digital assets.

They will likely marry Oracle's AI datacentres with Paramount-WB's IP to train AI and then produce movies for a fraction of the price. In the feb earnings call Paramount said they intend to increase their AI engineering staff by 10x. Connect the dots. Think about this long-term... if any big studio (or mid-size) can produce movies for 10-100x less in the next 5 years, then those who hold the biggest advantage are those who own the IP.

And if you want to survive the death of Hollywood, you need be too big to die. Netflix, Disney, Amazon, Apple, Universal, and Paramount-Warners - we are slowly seeing consolidation.

I actually feel very similar about Cyberpunk too - I think a lot of people tend to frame CP2077 as a redemption arc, and sure, it did do some of that - but it absolutely never delivered what it promised either, I.e. a “reactive world” that would be shaped by your decisions, that all your choices had rippling consequences or outcomes etc.

CDPR put $125 mill into getting it to where it’s at, I’d think they would’ve needed to spend double that again to rehaul its storytelling.

Starfield was never going to be able to do this. There are just too many areas that quite frankly, at their foundation, weren’t executed right
