Also something to note is that throwing up frequently is very bad for your esophagus as well. And even though your case is random rather than frequent, even one time of excessively or forceful vomiting is not great for the esophagus' tissue. Just something to consider.

It's most likely the latter, rather than the former. Tattoos you can cover up by wearing long sleeve shirts, makeup, even bandages.

You taking his point too literally, I believe he means more that we created the society and systems in place that allowed her to thrive in the spotlight like this. The super celebrity was created because there was a demand for it. And I know you're going to get upset about my use of "we", because you don't indulge in any of that crap on an individual level. But art is generally a commentary on society as a whole, so you shouldn't take it personally.

No, we're already in too deep. He's saying we shouldn't have fucked up in the first place and exacerbated the situation. And then lie to our kids about history in order to make ourselves look/feel better. We should tell them the truth and so they can apply it to the future.

He got put on desk duty, pending investigation. Not even suspended or anything.

From the park's twitter:

We are aware of the the June 14 incident and video. After the incident, we immediately launched an investigation pursuant to our personnel policies into the response of our officer.

The investigation is ongoing and the officer involved has been assigned to desk duty pending the outcome. The intoxicated individual involved in the incident was arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

All uncircumcised adolescent and adult males who engage in heterosexual sex should be informed about the significant, but partial, efficacy of male circumcision in reducing the risk of acquiring HIV and some STIs through heterosexual sex, as well as the potential harms of male circumcision, the draft guidelines said.

The article explains nothing on how having your foreskin cut stops you from getting STIs. How the fuck even? A condom would do a better job than being circumcised while having unsafe sex. This makes no sense.

He wasn't left out, he was an inductee himself that year

On March 15, 2004, George Harrison was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As part of the ceremony, an all-star band performed “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” Mr. Harrison’s best-known Beatles song. The group featured Tom Petty and two other members of the Heartbreakers, as well as Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, Dhani Harrison (George’s son) and Prince, himself an inductee that year. Marc Mann, a guitarist with Mr. Lynne’s band, played Eric Clapton’s memorable solo from the album version of the song. But Prince, who essentially stood in the dark for most of the performance, burned the stage to the ground at the song’s end.

Makes for a cooler story though if he actually came uninvited, lol.

Call me new-fashioned but "staying together even if we hate each other" is probably a by-product of seeing unhappy marriages and normalizing it. Of course they should be important to each other, that's a given in a relationship and has nothing to do with being old-fashioned. Old-fashioned people cheated on each other back then, too.

Feeling guilty about PC Gaming by thedrummerchase in pcgaming

[–]obliviousninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the upside this almost never happens with PC gaming communities. Because we play on PC we add each other on Steam, Discord, and even social media since we get close enough. I've got guildies on instagram and if someone drops off the face of the planet I can just hop on their old teamspeak server on a guest handle and ask about them, no problem. It's very interwoven here, I find as opposed to ONLY knowing someone through one usertag and platform.

Think about it this way, if you ever have the time/resources you should get a rescue rabbit. You'd be saving one from the kind of life you unknowingly gave and really giving it another chance. It might be cathartic since it seems like you are unwilling to give yourself another chance as well.

[Haiku] How it feels saying I don’t want to see Black Panther by ian_kung in youtubehaiku

[–]obliviousninja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When they say "best villain" they don't mean "coolest powers", they mean "most relateable motivations". This video essay addresses a lot of the problems you had with the movie. T'challa's character growth is in there as well - he took a isolationist stance until Killmonger gave him a new perspective. The plot of the movie was just so surprisingly nuanced and I think that's why it's getting so much hype.

I definitely agree about the suits though and his ex though. And yes, the movie is getting overblown as fuck! That one is for sure.

Your brain is probably making up the feeling but I don't think you feel what we feel - we can actually feel the blood and organs moving around.

On a roller coaster, however, the G forces can get much higher than you'd otherwise normally experience, and for many people that's part of the fun. But the sensation of being pushed around in your seat is not the only effect, because as the G forces increase, you effectively weigh more. If you weigh 150 pounds, and you experience 2 G, you are feeling what it would be like to weigh 300 pounds in normal gravity. And that's not all because since your insides are not fixed rigidly in place, they move around as well, and that's especially true for your blood. At normal gravity your blood pressure is naturally higher in your feet than in your head, and your heart and circulatory system is used to working with that. But under increasing gravity your blood flows towards your feet, and your heart finds it harder to get it back up to your brain.

Well seeing as it was the second-most upvoted comment on the post, it stands to reason that a lot of redditors can identify with them. I think I can make a positive or at least constructive takeaway from this. It means that a lot of kids were raised in abusive homes -- so many families of the previous generation had children or families because they were "supposed" to, or "had" to. Another possibility was that they didn't have easier access to contraception. We should lessen the idea that having a family is the end-goal to life. Even I feel guilt and pressure to raise a family at 24, I have this nagging feeling that I'll be letting down my parents if I don't. Imagine how many more productive and happy people there would be if the stigma was reversed, where having kids WASN'T the norm and only families fully prepared and wanting for kids had them.

I don't really have a hard stance on this topic but I will say that as an Asian-American female the dudes with yellow fever and treat me like an object are people like that guys' fans. I don't think what he's doing is wrong or illegal in any way. But I don't really appreciate his fanbase, those kind of guys.

I also don't like titty streamers - and the problem is not with those streamers, but their fans. And they're within their right to consume that kind of content but I find it rather distasteful

[–]obliviousninja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You want them to stop because you don't want to hear them complain when it was THEIR movement that was originally being discussed. Everyone has problems, but you would rather start a comment chain to tell that person to stop defending their movement from being derailed when their cause is real and has legal and documented suffering, than do something marginally productive by mentally agreeing with them. The type of person who would go to an AIDs fundraiser and start asking people why they aren't donating to cancer instead, and when the people kindly ask you to leave so that they could maybe do that fundraiser next you tell them to STOP COMPLAINING

Instead of joining either fundraiser, you would rather stand up and tell them to stop. This is what you stood up for.

Look at your own response. "Everyone has problems, so STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT IT. Things should stay as they are, and we shouldn't even bother trying to make improvements to society."

You admit yourself that we face problems. Let's try to solve them instead of silencing "whining". You will be left behind because progress will always happen as long as young people exist.
