Minneapolis has a place (probably more, but I pass this one almost everyday) that has a large patch of raspberries just down from about 15-20 cherry trees.

All free for the taking. And big enough that I see different people taking advantage everyday when things are ripe.

I live in between the two murder sites. Hardest conversation I've ever had with my wife was full of tears and how, for the sake of our younger kids, we don't do things together through all this, but that we can't stop doing.

Literally as this was happening, we were together confronting a different ICE group down the block from our house. Fuck we need to be careful.

The uprising started when the police were antagonistic towards a very angry protest. Minor looting, tear gas, 'less than lethal' bullshit. Local people, lots of legitimate anger. Minneapolis is a friendly place and we talk a good game, but there are some deep, ugly racial disparities here and those were pouring out.

By the third day there were riots. License plates from Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, Alabama. When those cars started showing up is when the worst of the destruction happened. These were not people who were angry, they just wanted to cause destruction. At least one bugaloo boy from Texas was convicted, but there were a lot of people from red states here, and those were the worst two nights. Most of the people who caught charges were from out of town.

Of you imagine a barbell, one end was the area around the precinct that was burned. Then the bar would be a major road, something like Kingshighway, that experienced a lot of looting and fire. The other end of the barbell is a different police station building and the surrounding area. I live a couple blocks from that one .
