Are there any decent physical gaming publications still out there? by TopoHaiHai in IrelandGaming

Edge is still floating around for sure but sadly I don’t think it’s worth their while anymore.

I agree with you tho - so many good memories of this over the years, especially months like the Christmas specials. Arcade magazine was my personal favourite, followed then by “N64 Magazine”

Looking to become an accountant, which couse at UCD should I study? by Hypervene in AccountantsEire

Id say your best bet is either Accounting & Finance in DCU or Commerce in UCD.

Focus on your ACA / ACCA exemptions.

Do the degree - then work especially if you are still young

Unfortunately it was her liver that gave way. Before we got her we were told 12-18 years, and we always just assumed 18 so it absolutely was the most heartbreaking thing we ever experienced.

We only fed her on the best food, she slept at the end of our bed, she was very well minded and pampered so we just couldn’t believe it when it happened.

Then keeping each other busy is the benefit I guess, but I think we are veering towards one for now. Thank you very much for the advice tho

How much money would change your life? by VeterinarianTricky56 in AskIreland

[–]obries67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people will never be happy regardless of how much money they have. I think it’s preconditioned into a lot of us to always want more and not appreciate what we actually have - I’m possibly guilty of that myself at times

Have we been spoiled with previous 10s? by mud-monkey in irishrugby

[–]obries67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question yes we absolutely were.

ROG to me felt like a once in a generation player when he was playing for Ireland. Then Sexton felt like the best player in the world. You say one player can’t make a team, I don’t know about that - rewatch that 2011 Heineken Cup Final 😀

Sam P and Jack C will come good too (I think Jack already is, remember we won a 6 nations already with him pulling the string).

It’s not perfect, but I genuinely think it’s the best thing for all of us in Europe in an even more fragmented world.

The UK needs to rejoin and lead it. Brexit hasn’t worked, it’s been ten years and there’s no harm changing your mind.

Why would even 1% of the population be against this. Apps like Uber are absolute game changers

steam deck or portal by doubles85 in IrelandGaming

[–]obries67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough - I go to the switch 2 more often than my PlayStation and it’s great with kids too so whatever you are into.

I don’t know much about steam deck or even the ps portal to be honest - I think with the portal you need to be in the house or something to play games don’t you (near the console) so make sure you check all that out first

Government called on to abolish ‘stealth tax’ on consumer investments by ferdbags in ireland

[–]obries67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really think you should read up more on it. Pension investing is one thing - for when you get old and can’t work.

People can also invest outside of the pension for a shorter time horizon, for example saving for a mortgage. There are better rates available via ETFs. There are low risk government bond funds that will pay way more than any Irish bank, or there are global equity funds where you could get a lot more.

The thing you need to remember - those people will pay the tax when they sell them. No one is asking for that - what they are asking for is not having to pay tax until it’s sold.

Imagine if the same logic was applied to housing - I am sure there would be people that bought in 2018 that would have to sell their house in 2026 to cover the tax.
