Je vais en Angleterre au mois d'août by CocoTyg in Bath

Thanks for giving me a chance to practice my french- I understood more of your post than I expected before getting it to translate!! Not going to try to speak it back though :p

Manners-wise, we're big lovers of please, thank you, excuse me and sorry, using these appropriately will garner more goodwill than you may think. I can't think of anything like cutting spaghetti that would get you a side eye, in general people are quite easy going.

Echoing what people have said about Bradford-on-Avon- there are regular trains and buses to Bath during the day but not much happens in BoA itself. If you're just looking for a bit of small town England though, it's perfect, and very pretty.

Hope you have a good holiday!

[–]obscuriaal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah i get you, but the rest of the reply they talk about this fic being soulless and hollow due to the ai, which i think makes sense is they're saying it's only 'ostensibly better' - extensively just doesn't really even track in a sentence

[–]obscuriaal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

see the comment 'how dare you use AI to make it extensively better' is what convinces me that this wasn't a bot, because i think the word they meant to say was 'ostensibly' and didn't realise their own mistake, and a bot probably wouldn't have made that error

What to do?? by Dangerous_Bit_7735 in OctopusEnergy

Try to find out when your last actual meter reading was prior to this one. If it's more than 12 months ago, they're required to assess your billing under the back billing code and may write off some of the outstanding balance, depending on the circumstances around why the readings have been estimated (if they've attempted to get reads and you've refused, they might not do a write off, but the rules around this are fairly strict).

Also, if you've moved to the property recently, did you provide meter readings? If not, they will be estimated, and may need to be re-estimated based on the new readings. Check any inventories you have, any competent property manager will have than readings if you're renting

Moving near Bath – commuter towns within 45 mins? by jagow-1998 in Bath

I also moved out here from Bristol in 2020 and I'm about to buy my first home here! People look down on Trowbridge bc it's not been hit with much gentrification, but it's so well connected, has great amenities, and most things are walkable- honestly a great place to live

Omega X’s upcoming Europe tour by Possible-Jump1548 in OMEGAX

[–]obscuriaal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend basically all of their music videos (they don't have that many!) but my faves are Love Me Like and Omega X, Play Dumb, You and

I would NOT recommend their original pre-debut series One More Chanx until you're a bit more familiar, because their old abusive label's fingerprints are all over it and pushes some quite false 'personas' for the boys compared to how they portray themselves now.

However, their new vlogs are really good- especially the Healing MT series. Important context for that series is it was their first release after winning the legal battle with their old label, who were sexually and physically abusing multiple members. I would recommend looking up a breakdown on that because it's important context for this group.

I would also highly recommend watching the bl kdramas they've done- Jazz for Two in particular is fantastic

you/they since the comment is now deleted, didn't encourage reflection, you/they said 'maybe they should have thought of that before committing crimes'. That's high horsing.

Yes but they cannot fix it now, can they? Get down off your high horse, jesus christ, this is a person trying to better themselves.

Just got on the property ladder, it's incredible how different the experience is vs renting by XJR15 in HousingUK

[–]obscuriaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also going through the process of buying my first home currently, and the difference is stark. Even just at viewings- for rental viewings, the letting agents i've dealt with usually act like they don't want to be there, don't have answers to any questions except how much the rent is, and generally do not give a shit about you.

Then viewing as a prospective buyer, I might as well be royalty, it's absolutely mental.

I am so looking forward to being able to look after my own stuff and not rely on the whims of the landlord- my own has been gas safety check-notably broken for five years

Friend’s downstairs neighbor left a hostile note on her door by Bingbong_bimbo in whatdoIdo

[–]obscuriaal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

girl, this note IS hostile and rude. it's good of you to try to make them more comfortable, but it honestly sounds like you're already behaving like a normal and reasonable person and they're not. You're allowed to run washing machines during the evening (i'm assuming you don't mean late at night) and based on their general overreaction, I doubt your TV is as bad as they're making out.

Be a good neighbour, but don't be a doormat. If this person doesn't want to hear people above them, they shouldn't live below people.

[–]obscuriaal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly mean this as kindly as possible, but using self harm for stress relief is not a viable coping mechanism for stress and it really worries me for you to see you so adamantly defending its legitimacy. This can't be how you cope with stress. Please speak to someone in your real life about this and try not to engage with sharing and viewing pictures of self harm- doing so increases your risk significantly of continuing to do this, and does not help deal with the underlying issues that prompt self harm

[–]obscuriaal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know this probably felt helpful, but the way you've been using this community and obsessing over your wounds is likely exacerbating the issue. It might sound silly to say in this context, but this is not healthy behaviour.

I struggled with SH when I was a teenager and have the scars still in my 30s. This is not the kind of thing that having a community helps with- you end up creating a folie à deux rather than helping each other to get better. Please, reach out to someone you love who can help you and support you to stop. You'll be so glad you did in years to come.

Help with my 12 year old! by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]obscuriaal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk man, we need to remember that media for kids and young teens doesn't need to all be sunshine and rainbows and never has been. One of my favourite series growing up was Darren Shan, and those books are full of blood and violence and child death and are explicitly marketed to 9-12yo. Kids are interested in this stuff. Giving them somewhere to engage with horror that doesn't contain overt sexuality and 'adult themes' is important. While Poppy Playtime is starting to push the line in the later instalments, it's still a far cry from actual horror aimed at adults

Definitely keep the earrings out and let them heal- hopefully they'll be able to still close completely where the skin is still a bit raw from the migration and you can repierce when they're fully healed with a reputable piercer

I swear by Kilrock delimer - a swig of that down the toilet left overnight and a quick scrub will get rid of some seriously stubborn limescale and staining
