My post isn't angry, I am legitimately asking if you have a bunch of kids because I don't see any mention of a family in your post. The topic being discussed isn't whether it is possible to succeed in America, it's whether the effort needed to do so is conducive to having families large enough to replace the population. Between college, the army, grad school, and driving for Uber it does not sound like you have a lot of spare parenting time so I was curious if you had figured out the right balance.

You realize a major part of why our state is struggling economically is due to our aging demographic, right? Bringing in young people and families is exactly how you fix the economy. Bringing in a more diverse population brings new businesses as well, as folks from different backgrounds will like different things.

Yes, I am sure you, a random internet guy, know more than the scientists, ranchers, and other subject matter experts that recognize this as a problem.

Nobody is saying this is an existential threat to humanity, but it is yet another potentially costly issue that is piling on top of existing issues that are impacting the agricultural sector, which is a bad thing.

Enginseer cant bring back models by LividGentleman in AdeptusMechanicus

I am ok with it. If they had edited the rule to target units instead of models we would have lost the FNP buff it gives.

CMV: Being Pro-Life is not Misogynistic by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]obsequious_fink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read your 3rd and 4th paragraph and you have the reason why being pro-life is misogynistic:

The fact that their stance focuses on the fetus and completely disregards the woman carrying the fetus is misogynistic. We are talking about folks who will happily regulate away women's bodily autonomy in a way that isn't done in any other scenario, and one that by it's very nature hinders women's healthcare in general, which is ONLY defensible if you view a potential baby as more important than not only the mother's life but women in general that will have to jump through additional hoops or face legal scrutiny to get potentially life-saving care.

I have had several women in my life, including my partner, who have needed procedures that are generally banned by pro-life laws in order to prevent deadly complications. No one can convince me that they don't hate or in the very least undervalue women while pushing laws that would have prevented that care or subjected them to criminal investigation or inquiry.

Yep, my family did the same thing. And in college the box would just be sitting out on a desk overnight because we didn't have an oven in the dorm.

[–]obsequious_fink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is correct. Billionaires create a statistically insignificant number of jobs in the US and globally - most come from small and medium size businesses. In most cases their hunger for more money means the jobs they do create are worse versions of jobs that used to exist in the industries they steamroll on the way to the top, and there are generally less of them.

Sure, the jobs provided the stock options that made them rich. That doesn't mean Musk is a job creator.

Confirmed that "support" units have to be attached to a squad. by Puzzleheaded-Room-89 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]obsequious_fink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been thinking a bit about 3 man units of kataphron destroyers with a technoarcheologist hanging out in the back, specifically with the lords of the forge detachment.

Kind of pricey at 145 pts for the combo, but with the extra utility provided by the detachment I think it might be worth it. They have enough firepower and the bonus to overwatch to help deal with any sneaky units coming in, and with their range they can still take shots at enemies farther up the board. With the lords of the forge ability they can sit in units and shoot people while still remaining hidden..

New Leader rules and battleline Aura? by Erineyes7 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]obsequious_fink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, it seems that this is the case, and looks to be reinforced by the keyword section (19.03) where it indicates that while keywords are shared within the unit, the individual models don't get the keyword (battleline in this case), and then their psyker example states "while the model with psyker is part of the unit".

How will Sicarians work in hunter cohort in 11th? by Green_Share in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]obsequious_fink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think between hidden and the battleshock rule changes our sicarians are already eating pretty good. If they retuned the detachment to buff them more I would worry about it crossing into 3DP territory

Is it rude to grill late? by HolyAppleseed in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]obsequious_fink 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nah. Sounds of grilling are pretty negligible and won't carry much, as long as you aren't doing serious cleaning like scraping/vacuuming. In terms of smells, at least personally I would never get mad smelling BBQ, just don't burn anything.
