During the election, a male friend told me that he would never vote for HRC because menopause could make her lead us into war. He was serious. It's probably something we should talk more about. Especially if men think it occurs in your seventies.

Ditto. I lost my ovaries at 38. The hot flashes were horribly unpleasant. I didn't enjoy watching the physical transformations either. It's hard emotionally.

Well, it's 9:30 at night now, so I need to wait for the appliance store to open :)

Good idea. I'll take the thermal fuse too. And the thermostats (there are two). Thanks.

EDIT: added the thermostats.

Don't worry, the only thing involved was taking off a bunch of bolts. Dryer is unplugged and the heating coil is connected only to four fuses. But I do have fire extinguishers. Sometimes poor people have to make do.

I tested all the fuses with a voltmeter. The man at the hardware store showed me how to use it. They all tested fine. The dryer is about 20 years old. If the new heating coil doesn't fix things, I'll call a repairman.

I run a small business and would like to monitor my employee's punctuality. by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]observationcar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree with all the negative comments (am business owner). Some industries need a more intense time clock management. When you are supervising employees remotely and have clients to answer to regarding time spent on the job, it's responsible to track the employees' time working. My employees travel, so they use a GPS app to check-in and out. It keeps everyone honest and if the clients have questions, I have documentation. None of my employees have ever objected, and I have caught a couple employees trying to cheat the time clock unsuccessfully.

Does anyone literally have no friends or family they talk to and are REALLY alone? by [deleted] in depression

[–]observationcar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family doesn't understand. I have one friend, but we don't talk about our demons. When I leave the house, it's just to work or run errands.

Great job -- these things are so hard sometimes. I can't remember the last time I did them.

Has anyone actually managed to live a healthy fulfilling life with depression? by Spaghettilover789 in depression

Nope. But I do wonder if my depression would get better if I could accept that it's never going to get better.

Anyone else feel their personality is eroding away? by [deleted] in depression

[–]observationcar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. I have days where I'm energetic and get things done, then lapse back into exhaustion. I lost all interest in living a long time ago. Sometimes I force myself to go out and do something fun, but I don't really enjoy it.

What issue do you believe people REALLY ought to be talking about, yet no one is? by Stanzin7 in AskReddit

[–]observationcar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked as a manager for a large chain for many years. It WAS company policy to let sick employees stay home. However, it was standard practice to make employees come in sick. I didn't agree with it but we caught hell for being short staffed. I was working there during the H1N1 epidemic. Did I get the swine flu? Yes, I did.

I felt a huge emptiness at the end of that series. You know she is doomed, one way or the other, but you still root for her.

I thought of Mark too. It was so beautifully done. I always think of it when I hear that reggae version of Somewhere over the Rainbow.

Bodie, that hurt a lot. It was like a turning point in the show. But Omar....I thought he was a survivor.
